Seraphina gritted her teeth but maintained her smile. “Dr. Ashworth, I didn’t expect you to be so persistent over such a small matter.”

“I was simply proving my innocence. I hadn’t done anything wrong–why should I accept blame because of you?” Aria turned to face her directly. “Just because you have Alpha Kane’s protection?”

Mentioning Kane, Seraphina’s smile turned cold, with a hint of provocation in her expression. “I knew it here’s something between you and Kane During the years I was away, Kane wasn’t supporting you, was he?”

Her sarcasm made Aria’s expression darken
