Chapter 58: The Culprit 

JULIA 

“Doctor, are you done?” I asked, my voice strained. 

“…and one last stitch,” the doctor muttered. He cut what I assumed was the suture. 

“I just need to clean it again, then I’d call Mr. Astor to fetch 

I didn’t let the doctor finish his statement. Instead, I jumped out of bed, placed my shoes on–thank goodness, they were slip–ons–and ran away from the minor operating room. 

“Miss Julia!” the doctor exclaimed, still holding onto the remaining suture and scissors. 

However, I ignored him and continued on with my way. It was a faint shout. However, I was sure. That was Andy. My Andy. 

I walked through the hallways like a madman until the screams became louder. 

“I want my mominy! Please let me go to my mommy,” And sobbed. My heart raced as I found his voice getting closer and closer. 

Then, that was when I saw him. 

“Shut up, you little gremlin. We’ll bring you back to your school after this one. Don’t be so stubborn,” a big guy” said. 

I didn’t hesitate. Despite the ache in my freshly sewn wound, I ran to where they were, pushing the big guy away. He merely moved an inch, but that was enough to make my presence known. 

Andy’s teary eyes met mine, and my rage increased further However, I cast it aside for a second and kneeled down to his level, picking him up as he cried into my neck. 

“Mommy,” he sobbed, holding me tightly. 

“Shh, shh,” I muttered. “It’s okay. You’re okay now. Mommy’s here.” 

He continued to sob while I turned around to confront the big guy. I should have been frightened by our size difference, but frankly, I didn’t care. 

“Let the child go, miss,” he said. 

“He is my son,” I spat, glaring at him. “What are you doing with him? I’m going to report this to the police.” 

He clicked his tongue and held onto my shoulder. I flinched as his big hand clenched for dear life. However, I moved back. 

“Don’t touch me,” I said. 

He sighed and shook his head. “Don’t cause a scene here, miss. There are patients around.” 

“I wouldn’t cause a scene if you didn’t kidnap my child,” I said. 

“We’ll give him back to you!” he said. “If you just wait, then everything will be fine,” he added, It seemed like he wasn’t remorseful for what he had done! He was speaking so casually that he could be mistaken as Andy’s relative. 

I didn’t even know this guy! 

He moved in to grab Andy again, and I was about to scream when a familiar voice interrupted our confrontation.

“Oh, let her be, Biggie. The test is done anyways.” 

I turned around and was met with none other than Garyn Astor. Surrounding him was a multitude of guards, causing me to hold Andy even closer to my body. 

The big guy stepped back and nodded before joining Garyn’s battalion. 

“It was you,” I muttered, glaring at the old man with hatred. 

He chuckled and squared his shoulders. “Yes, it was!” he exclaimed: “My daughter, Ellie, should have watched him better. With one look away from the scene, your son is abducted just like that. All thanks to Biggie, of course. I should give him a big bonus.” 

Biggie smiled, acting proud of the crime he had done. 

“Why are you doing this?” I asked, trying to hold back my fear. 

Andy was still crying against me, and I didn’t want to show him that I was also scared. 

“Well, I have the right,” he said. “You had revealed in Heather’s and Anders‘ supposed engagement party that you have a child with him. How could I not investigate it? You brought this upon yourself.” 

I froze as I recalled the stories Ellie told me about her father–about him wanting an heir in the family. 

With that, I held Andy even closer in my arms.
