I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 622

Chapter 622: Smell it

Vincent had only spoken half of what he wanted to say, leaving some room for Zane's reaction. However, Zane remained silent for a while, sitting on the side as if hesitating or considering something.

After about ten seconds or so, Zane picked up the glass of wine from the table without clinking it with Javon's glass. He looked at Vincent and said, "I came here tonight because of you. I also accept your and Mr. Griffith's apologies. But I won't forgive him."

Zane then drank all the wine in his glass before saying, "You guys enjoy your meal. I have something else to do."

Zane's clear attitude was already giving Vincent some respect.

Therefore, Vincent did not dare ask for anything more and just looked at Zane, saying: "Why don't you eat something? You didn't seem to have eaten much earlier."

Zane waved his hand and replied: "No need. Someone has cooked for me."

As he stood up to leave, he bowed slightly towards Javon as a sign of respect from a junior to an elder, nothing more than that.

After rejecting Javon's request earlier, yet he still showed him some respect afterwards. It felt like getting slapped in the face followed by receiving candy.

When Zane left the private room, Javon leaned back against his chair, feeling drained: "I told you before that someone like him won't help us rise again!"

Vincent glanced at Javon: "You did what you did with Lana last time, which caused his wife's miscarriage; they haven't reconciled yet till now... Do you think with what he is as a person, he would still help you based on our old connections?"

Vincent spoke coldly, adding: "He has already given us enough face by coming over tonight! At least from now on when you want to do anything in Manches City such as trying to make a comeback or any other plans... he won't stand in our way! Be content with that."

Javon was speechless after hearing these words from Vincent but still had an expression wanting to argue back.

However, Vincent didn't give him any chance:"Alright then finish eating and go home! Don't even think about asking for anymore help from him! If it were me instead, I would be even harsher than he is!"

With those words, Vincent silenced Javon completely.

Meanwhile, Zanewent downstairs after leaving the private roomand sat down in the lounge area next door. He wouldn't have drunk that wine ifhe hadn't told Yanis earlier that he had been drinking alcohol today. Zane sat half reclined in a chair, glancing at the time on his phone. It had only been about ten minutes since he called Yanis, but it felt like an eternity. He considered calling her again, but ultimately decided against it.

Upstairs in the private room, Yanis and her friends finished their meal. Mila noticed Yanis checking the time for the third time and asked if she had somewhere to be.

Yanis looked up at Mila and replied softly, "Just a friend who needs me to give him a ride later."

Mila suggested they leave then and there. Libby agreed with her and Marquis offered to pay for their meal before they all left together.

As they descended the stairs, Mila whispered something to Ivan while Libby took a phone call behind them. That left only Marquis walking alongside Yanis.

"I'll get back to you about school as soon as possible," Yanis said first.

Marquis responded quietly with a nod of agreement. "No rush though - you should ask your students what they think too."

Standing still in place while looking at him made Yanis think about what he said last night outside their studio door: "I'll buy you flowers every day from now on."

Thinking of this made Yanis lift her foot forward and ask curiously, "We weren't having dinner with clients, so where did these flowers come from?"

Zane handed over the bouquet saying, "They were sent by someone."

Suppressing his urge to call Yanis earlier when they were eating dinner together, Zane searched for same-day delivery options on his mobile device, which allowed quick delivery nearby.

Timing-wise, it worked perfectly because just as they stepped out of an elevator, Yanis had arrived downstairs carrying those very same flowers that had been delivered by courier moments ago.

But when he saw an unfamiliar man standing next to Yanis though, Zane suddenly felt like returning the bouquet of flowers. However, it only took a moment for him to suppress that feeling. He couldn't jump to conclusions about Yanis knowing more details.

Taking hold of the bouquet, Yanis said, "Did you drink?"

Zane lowered his head and replied with a low voice: "Yes." Then he leaned forward a little and asked her: "Smell it."

Caught off guard by this sudden move, Yanis moved her head upwards causing their foreheads to collide briefly against each other before smelling the faint scent of alcohol emanating from the flowers. Zane didn't straighten up after being bumped into; instead, he maintained his leaning posture while asking: "Do you smell it?"

Feeling nervous, Yanis muttered softly in response,"Yes, I do."
