I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 623

Chapter 623 Maybe I'm Not Working Hard Enough

After hearing Yanis' response, Zane didn't back down. "Yanis, I..." The words he wanted to say were on the tip of his tongue, but he hesitated and then straightened up. "Let's go."

Yanis looked at him curiously. "What did you want to say just now?"

Zane shook his head. "It's nothing, let's go."

Since the weather had warmed up considerably, there were a lot more people out on the streets at night than before.

Yanis' car was parked in a spot in front of Banyan Garden and they walked over slowly together.

After opening the car door and placing the flowers in the backseat, Yanis opened the passenger side door for Zane. "Get in."

Zane nodded and bent down to get into the car.

As far as he could remember, he had never really ridden in Yanis' car before.

Once inside, Zane tilted his head slightly upward towards Yanis. "Do you get nervous driving at night?"

Upon hearing this question from Zane, Yanis glanced over at him before replying confidently: "Don't worry about it; I won't sell you to some guy."

Zane chuckled softly under his breath: "I'd give myself away for free to you; nobody else could afford me."

Yanis looked back at him quizzically: "How much do other people pay?"

Zane remained silent for a few seconds before answering: "Priceless."

"That sounds expensive. Then why free for me?" said Yanis with a smile as she met Zane's gaze again.

The atmosphere between them suddenly became warmer by several degrees.

However just as soon as she realized what was happening between them, Yanis hesitated briefly - but before she could make any move, Zane suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer towards himself with some force..

In response, Yanis leant forward until their faces were only inches apart from each other, close enough that she could smell alcohol on his breath, but not so much that it was overwhelming or unpleasant.

"Yanis."

"Uh-huh?" Yanis instinctively answered.

But Zane didn't say another word. He sat up straight, tilted his head slightly back, and kissed her.

Although taken aback by this sudden gesture, Yanis made no attempt to pull away. This wasn't exactly an empty street, and anyone who happened to glance their way would be able to see exactly what they were doing. In this scenario, Yanis was more than a little nervous. Fortunately, it didn't last long.

"So, does this count as drunk driving?" Zane asked her after they parted lips.

Yanis blushed a little and regained her composure before sitting up straight. "Nope!"

After saying that, Yanis turned around and went to the driver's seat. She opened the door and sat down. "Close the door."

Zane looked at her with a slightly flushed face and hooked his lip corner. "Sure."

After Zane closed the car door, Yanis started up the car and left Banyan Garden.

It was quiet in the car for some time.

Zane sat in the passenger seat looking at Yanis through his window while she drove.

The silence in the car became too much for Yanis, so she turned to say something to Zane but noticed he was staring at her instead. She swallowed back her words, then turned back to focus on driving again.

"Yanis," Zane called out softly after a few seconds of silence passed by.
