I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 638

Chapter 638: Are They Asking You to Speak for Lana?

After leaving the hospital, Zane met up with Albi to see Finnley. They had arranged to meet at a coffee shop in West City. It had been a while since they last saw each other.
When Zane arrived, Finnley was already inside waiting for him. He stood up as soon as he saw Zane and said, "You're here."
Zane nodded and gestured for him to sit down. He pulled out the chair opposite Finnley and sat down.
Finnley looked over at Albi who was standing nearby and asked, "Would you like to join us too?"
Albi shook his head and bowed slightly towards Finnley before saying, "No thanks, I'll go over there." He then glanced at Zane before walking away to another table.
After Albi left, Finnley called the waiter over to help order coffee for Zane. Then they got into business talk.
"The Ellis family is having some trouble with funding for the West City project. Did you have any plans in mind?" asked Finnley.
Zane didn't deny it and replied calmly, "There are many people eyeing this project so it will take some effort if we want to secure it."
Finnely continued,"I've been asking around these past few days and heard that Manches City also has interest but their funds are too large so nothing has been confirmed yet. If someone decides to use connections behind closed doors then even if we have money we might not be able get this project."
Zane furrowed his brows slightly after hearing what Finney said,"Where did you hear about this?"
Finnely answered truthfully,"I asked my dad's old friends who work in that area of business so there must be some truth behind it."
Zane knew that everything Finney just said was true because getting this project would mean huge profits compared with investment returns which made everyone interested in securing it.
After a moment of silence, Zan spoke softly,"I'll ask someone else on my end about this matter. If I find anything out, I'll let you know."
Finney nodded before asking again,"If we do manage get our hands on this project, would we split the investment costs evenly?"
The two continued discussing their plan of action until they finished their coffee together."Do you have enough funds to work with?" Finnley asked. "If there's too much, it might take some time to gather everything together and we won't be able to get it all at once."
Zane paused for a few seconds before responding, "You put in four and I'll put in six."
Finnley raised her eyebrows at Zane's response. "I put in four and you put in six?" she repeated.
Zane nodded his head. "Is there a problem?"
Finnley shook her head. "No problem, let's discuss the details when everything is confirmed on your end."
Zane made a noise of agreement before the two of them continued discussing more details about their project.
Time always seemed to fly by quickly during these kinds of conversations, and before they knew it, it was already five o'clock.
After checking the time, Zane turned back towards Finnley. "That should be enough for now; I'll contact you when I have any updates."
"Okay," Finnley replied.
After a brief moment of silence, Finnley looked up at Zane again and asked him if Vincent had contacted him yet.
Upon hearing this question from Finnely, Zane lifted his gaze towards her curiously.
Clearing her throat lightly first, Finnely continued speaking: "Uncle Song has been sick lately; he seems pretty serious about wanting to see Lana again so I thought Vincent might've contacted you."
Due to Lana's situation recently causing tensions between both Griffiths family and Ellis family members alike; Javon still harbored some resentment towards the Ellis family for not lending any help earlier on despite being close acquaintances with them beforehand.
However after calming down somewhat later on though he realized that even if the Ellis family were standing behind them right now against their enemies - if that was what they wanted - then there would be no pressure whatsoever since they could easily handle anything thrown their way without breaking a sweat anyway given how powerful they were as an organization themselves!
"He's sick?" Zane asked incredulously after hearing this news from Finney
"Yeah," Finney nodded solemnly while adding: "It's been going on for several days now… I went over to visit him once already."
"I met with Vincent last week," said Zanem recalling their conversation where he didn't seem too worried about Uncle Song's condition at all then either! It was strange how things could change so quickly like this…
"Did they come see you…to plead Lana's case?" Finney wondered aloud as she tried piecing together what happened here exactly...
"No," replied Zanem shaking his head slowly but firmly: "They came over just apologize instead."
Finney didn't say anything else after hearing this reply from him because deep down inside she knew that Javon owed an apology too – especially considering how much trouble he caused everyone involved due solely out of jealousy or spitefulness perhaps?
Even though things had calmed down somewhat since then – mostly thanks largely due only because nobody really wanted another incident like that happening ever again anytime soon! But still... the damage had been done already unfortunately!
"If Vincent contacts me," suggested Finney tentatively: "Wouldn't it be better if we let Uncle Song meet with Lana?"
But whether or not such an idea would actually work out well remained uncertain until further notice... Zane said in a low voice, "I don't have the power to control what happens over there. They can see Lana as long as the prison allows it."
It was clear that Zane had the ability to bankrupt and ruin the Griffiths family overnight, but he didn't have control over anything else.
Finnley understood that if Zane wanted to forbid visits, then the Griffiths family wouldn't be able to see Lana.
But now that Zane had said this, there was definitely a chance for them to visit her.
Since Lana went in, no one from the Griffiths family dared to visit her easily. One reason was because they were afraid that Zane would prevent them from seeing her. The other reason was because they were afraid their visit would only make Zane angrier at Lana.
That's why they hadn't visited until now. But with Javon sick and missing Lana, they couldn't resist any longer since she was like a precious gem in their hands.
"How about we grab dinner together? I'll invite Vincent too," Finnley suggested after leaving the coffee shop and looking at Zane.
Zane glanced at his watch before politely declining, "I have other things to do today. Maybe another time."
Finnley didn't insist and replied calmly, "Sure thing. We'll plan it for another day then."
Zane nodded before bidding farewell and heading straight back into city center without any further conversation or explanation of where he needed Albi (his driver) to take him next.
Albi asked curiously when they arrived in city center: "Where are you headed now Mr. Lawrence?"
It wasn't likely for him going back into work at this hour of night so Albi wondered what his boss's next move would be?
After pausing for a few seconds, Zanereplied,"Did you deliver everything I asked you earlier?"
"Yes sir, I did." Albi confirmed promptly."Do you need me anymore tonight?"
"No thanks. You can drive yourself home after dropping off your car here later."Zanesaid firmly with an air of finality which made it clear he wanted some alone time tonight without anyone around him except Yanis who owned an art studio nearby where he parked his car outside while waiting patiently inside observing Yanis serving customers behindthe bar counter throughthe window glasspane separating them both .
He watched Yanis interact with clients while sitting inside his car without disturbing him until finally decidingto step outand approachhim oncehe finished talkingwiththem all . After seeing the group of people off, Yanis walked his guest to the door. Just as he was about to turn back inside, he caught sight of a familiar car out of the corner of his eye. He hesitated for a moment before turning around and walking towards it.
