I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 660

Chapter 660: Are you the person hired by the Johnson family?

Earlier, Anika could tell from the phone call that something serious had happened on Mr. Morris's side. "Did something happen with Mr. Morris?" Iris put away her phone and walked to the bedside. "It's a small matter, I'll go take a look and be back soon." Anika didn't say much and just nodded lightly after Iris finished speaking. "Okay, you go ahead."
Iris looked at the time on her watch before saying, "I'll wait for Yanis to come back before going." Anika said, "It's okay, you can go see what's happening now. Your sister-in-law should be downstairs in the supermarket buying things; she'll come up soon enough."
Iris hesitated for a few seconds but eventually nodded after thinking about what Mr. Morris had said on the phone earlier.
"Alright then, I'll go take a look first," she said finally.
Anika nodded in agreement and Iris quickly left the hospital room while making a call to Jefferson asking him to bring some people over to Antique City.
After all, most of these Black Market people weren't easy to deal with so they needed proper preparation.
Meanwhile on Antique City street...
In a black car parked by the roadside near the end of the street was Anthony smoking his cigarette while looking at his passenger seat companion.
"What kind of crappy business did you get us into? If we break anything valuable here then your brother will have nothing left!" he exclaimed angrily.
"Anthony," his companion replied calmly," it's not as bad as you think it is! Anything worth money has already been sold off by these guys for high prices! Who would leave anything valuable lying around waiting for thieves?"
Anthony glared at him skeptically and retorted: "You don't know shit! These kinds of shops usually keep their best treasures hidden away somewhere safe! You better be careful or else we might end up breaking something worth millions that your payment won't even cover!"
"That won't happen because our client paid us one million upfront!" His companion replied confidently.
Anthony raised an eyebrow upon hearing this news; he asked curiously: "Who's dumb enough to pay that much money?"
His companion shrugged nonchalantly: "Well Anthony my friend…money is money no matter where it comes from."
Anthony flicked ash off his cigarette before asking again: "So why are we doing this? Are we smashing up someone's store?"Anthony strode forward, glancing at the chaotic shop that had been smashed before turning his attention to Iris. "Who got hit in your family? Are they dead?"
Iris frowned. "Are you the person sent by the Johnson family?"
Upon hearing this, Anthony furrowed his brows and looked at the man who had just been kicked by Iris. "Is that so?"
The man rubbed where he had been kicked and said, "It seems like it."
"Who hired you? You don't even know? What kind of business are you running?" Anthony asked with frustration.
The man felt wronged and replied, "Isn't it true that you only care about money and not people, Anthony?"
Anthony sighed deeply before turning to Iris. "What's this gentleman's name?"
"Iris," she replied.
When Anthony heard her name, his expression changed slightly as he asked, "the Duncans?"
Iris met his gaze but didn't answer him directly. Instead, she watched as Anthony turned to the man standing beside them and warned him not to touch any children.
Although Anthony wasn't a good person per se, he knew there were certain rules in their line of work – never harm old people or children.
During this brief standoff period when Jefferson arrived with some men in tow asking if Mr. Duncan was okay?
Iris shook her head before instructing Jefferson to check for damages inside the store while also telling him they would pay for everything.
Upon hearing her words, Anthony raised an eyebrow in surprise at Mr. Duncan's generosity while Iris simply ignored him.
Rather than chat with Anthony right then and there; however, Iris went over to comfort several employees who worked within those stores affected by what happened earlier today making sure no one was hurt first before finally exhaling a sigh of relief once everyone was accounted for.
"I'm sorry about what happened today; it was my fault," she said apologetically."We'll cover all damages incurred." If it were just one or two things damaged maybe they could let it slide but given how much destruction occurred here today, it would be unfair not taking responsibility for everything that happened under their watchful eye after all!"Anthony, are we going to smash things up here? I've got the money, but the job's not done yet," said the man standing next to Anthony in a low voice.
Anthony gave him a cold glance. "You idiot. The person involved is right here. If you can handle this one, it's worth more than smashing ten stores."
