I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 665

Chapter 665 Mr. Lawrence is Not Bad

"Yanis, I'll give you the money for this later," Mitch said, glancing at the price tag and feeling like the gift was too expensive.
"What are you talking about? This is Reed's coming-of-age gift. It should be valuable to make it more ceremonial," Yanis replied, putting her phone back in her bag.
Mitch opened his mouth a few times to say something but kept swallowing his words.
"Yanis," he called out after walking a bit further.
"Hmm?" Yanis turned around to face him.
"Have you made up with Mr. Lawrence?" Mitch asked.
"Why do you suddenly ask that?" Yanis stopped walking and looked at him curiously.
"It's nothing. Just curious," Mitch said before adding, "I think Mr. Lawrence is not bad."
Yanis chuckled lightly at Mitch's words. "You haven't had much contact with him yet. How do you know he's not bad?"
After hesitating for a moment, Mitch told Yanis about working in security at The Lawrence Group after leaving Underground Market thanks to Mr. Lawrence's help.
"You work at The Lawrence Group?" Yanis was slightly shocked by this news.
Mitch nodded and explained how Albi wanted to arrange another job for him but he knew his own abilities and chose security instead because of the good treatment from Mr. Lawrence himself.
Yanis realized that Zane also wanted to help her family through giving Mitch this job opportunity - something she didn't expect from Zane who used to just throw money around without thinking twice about it before learning how important it was to take care of others' feelings when helping them out now
If Zane had just given money directly without offering any opportunities or support like this job offer for example then maybe even someone as loyal as Mitch wouldn't have thought highly of him anymore either way
Without saying anything else on the matter, Yanis simply asked what he thought of working in security there
"It's great! I can learn so much!" replied an enthusiastic-sounding Mitchell who seemed happy with where things were going nowYanis had wanted to say more, but the words got stuck in her throat and she swallowed them back down. No one could predict what would happen in the future, so Yanis couldn't finish her sentence.
While waiting in line to pay for groceries, Yanis messaged Zane and let him know that Mia and the others might not be joining them for dinner tonight. After completing the purchase of their ingredients, Yanis saw a message from Zane pop up on her phone: [I'm with Finnley tonight. I'll be home later.]
Yanis quickly replied with a question: [Haven't you finished yet?]
Zane responded just as swiftly: [Things are complicated. I'll tell you when I get home.]
Yanis had originally intended to ask about Mitch's situation, but seeing that it was almost their turn at the checkout counter, she simply replied with an affirmative.
After paying for their groceries, Yanis returned to their apartment complex with Mitch.
Mia and the others were already at school under Myles' supervision; they wouldn't be done until later.
"My mom is finishing up some work at the hospital," Mitch said softly while helping Yanis prepare dinner. "She's waiting on a certificate from one of the nurses before coming back."
Upon hearing this news, Yanis nodded in agreement. "Then I'll make something light today."
"Sounds good," Mitch agreed.
Yanis became so busy preparing dinner that she forgot to call Iris and let her know that she would be late returning home.
It wasn't until after they finished cooking dinner and were waiting for Mitch to pick up Marnon that it dawned on Yanis that she hadn't called Iris yet.
But just as soon as she picked up her phone ready to dial Iris' number, Iris called first.
As soon as Yanis answered the phone without saying anything yet, Iris' voice came through loud and clear from across town: "Yanis! Something happened at Anika's hospital; I can't reach Zane!"
At first taken aback by this sudden news from Iris over Anika's condition or whereabouts - which was always top-of-mind - all sorts of scenarios flashed through Yani's mind causing her heart rate spike momentarily before responding calmly enough:
"What happened? Is Anika okay?"
Anxious thoughts raced through Yani's head immediately thinking about possible worst-case scenarios involving Anika being hurt or lost somewhere within or outside of hospital premises...
"I went downstairs earlier today during lunchtime break," explained iris "to grab some food for myself & Anika who was resting then... But when i came back upstairs after 15 minutes or so... she wasn't there anymore."
Panic set in once again upon hearing these words come out of iris' mouth causing yani's heart rate spike even higher than before!
"I'm heading over there right now!" Yani exclaimed urgently into phone receiver
"I've already contacted security personnel who are reviewing surveillance footage right now" reassured iris "Just drive safely!"
"Okay," breathed out yani feeling somewhat relieved knowing someone else is taking charge behind-the-scenes while also feeling grateful towards having such supportive friends like iris around during tough times like these...
Hanging up quickly after ending conversation with iri, s yani grabbed car keys off kitchen table & rushed out door towards parking lot where mitch had parked his car earlier…Yanis took a few steps forward and helped Marnon up. "You guys go ahead and eat, I have something to take care of. Tell Reed happy birthday for me," he said.
Mitch looked at Yanis. "What's going on?"
"Nothing much. You stay here and chat with your mom. Reed and them should be back soon, the soup in the pot will be ready in about ten minutes or so. Keep an eye on it," Yanis instructed Mitch before quickly saying goodbye to Marnon and rushing off to the hospital.
On his way there, Yanis tried calling Zane twice but got no answer both times.
Feeling anxious, he called Iris to ask about any updates.
"Some of the surveillance cameras were intentionally blocked, we haven't found anything yet," Iris said over the phone.
Upon hearing this news from Iris, Yanis picked up his pace even more.
"Have you been able to reach Zane?" Iris asked him.
"I've called him but no one is answering. I'll try again," Yanis replied before hanging up and dialing Zane's number once more with no luck getting through again.
He then searched through his phone contacts until he found Albi's number - which was also unanswered like Zane's calls had been earlier - prompting him to think of someone else who might know where they were: Julia Ellis' number that she had given him during their last art exhibition together came into mind as a possible lead for finding out their whereabouts now since they were all friends back then too despite not having seen each other recently due mainly because everyone was busy with their own lives lately anyway...
Julia answered after what seemed like a long time ringing on her end with a sleepy voice asking who it was that was calling her so late at night?
"It's Yanis Thompson."
"Miss Thompson? What can I do for you?" Julia sounded surprised by this unexpected call from someone she hadn't talked to in ages now...
"I need your brother's phone number urgently if you have it handy right now please."
Without hesitation or further questions asked by Julia herself either (since she could tell from how urgent-sounding his tone sounded) , she quickly sent over her brother's contact information via text message while still talking on the line simultaneously too!
"Thank you very much Miss Ellis! Sorry for bothering you so late at night like this..."
"No worries... I hope everything turns out okay!"
