After listening to Yanis' words, Zane looked at him and asked, "So you want me to help her?"
Yanis wasn't a generous person, especially when it came to Neve's affairs. He felt that he couldn't afford to be generous.
So when Yanis heard Zane's words, he hesitated for a moment and said, "I'm just helping Nancy pass on a message. The final decision is up to you."
Zane didn't hesitate at all and said firmly, "No way."
Zane's words were clean and decisive.
Yanis didn't expect Zane would refuse so decisively. For a moment, he didn't know how to respond.
The car suddenly became quiet until they arrived at the Shippou Restaurant. They both knew without saying anything that they wouldn't get out of the car immediately.
Zane parked the car in its spot and turned off the engine. He then unbuckled his seatbelt before turning his face towards Yanis and admitting,"I admit I had some involvement with Neve's case. I don't think seven years plus six months is too much considering what she did was illegal anyway. So I only provided some evidence which led her time in prison being extended slightly longer but other than that it wasn't up for me to decide."
When Yanis heard from Nancy about Zane's possible involvement with Neve's case earlier on she thought even if there were no feelings between them anymore he wouldn't stoop so low as kicking someone who was already down by doing something like this but now hearing it from his own mouth made her feel somewhat shocked.
Yanis remained silent for several seconds before asking,"You…"
"Yanis, this matter has passed already. We should focus on living our own lives instead of worrying about others. People will take care of their own affairs; we don't need to interfere," interrupted Zane before she could finish speaking softly."I knew Nancy went see Neve earlier but what was discussed or mentioned between them doesn't concern us."
After finishing his sentence, Zaneslightly leaned forward towards Yanisthen continued in a low voice,"Yanis, I don't wantto deal with other people's problems right now nor do I have time. I just wantto focuson our matters. Do you understand?"
Looking into those deep eyes full of affection, Yanishad an inexplicable feeling insideher heart. She finally nodded lightly under Zanes' gaze saying "Okay". Zane raised his hand and gently rubbed Yanis' head, then planted a soft kiss on her lips. "Let's go downstairs," he said.
Yanis nodded and followed Zane out of the car. When they entered the private room, several people were already seated inside: Myles and Bonnie, Evan and Haider, as well as Stella.
"Yanis!" Stella waved at Yanis when she saw her.
Because not everyone had arrived yet, men and women were separated. Yanis glanced at Zane before walking over to Stella and Bonnie. "How did you get here?" she asked Stella.
"I hitched a ride with Mr. Hughes and Miss Cooke after being a 1000-watt light bulb," Stella replied with a grin. She then looked at Bonnie's face before adding, "I hope they're feeling generous tonight or I won't be able to eat anything."
Bonnie snorted in response. "Unlike some people who are always showing off their affection."
All three of them knew exactly who Bonnie was referring to in that statement, but Yanis pretended not to understand as she turned towards her friend again. "Why all this fuss for tonight?"
Bonnie smiled mysteriously. "You'll find out soon enough! Oh hey, where's Ivan?"
"Did you call him?" Yanis asked.
"Of course we did! How could we forget about our dear Ivan?" Bonnie replied with a laugh just as Ivan walked in with Mila by his side.
Bonnie greeted him by saying: "Speak of the devil."
Ivan chatted briefly with Bonnie before heading over to Myles' side of the room; soon enough everyone had arrived so they sat down for dinner without having to order anything since everything was pre-ordered by Bonnie earlier on - it was quite an impressive spread too!
After dinner there were other activities planned for them all which included waiting until Bonny went off into the bathroom so that Yanis could follow behind her quietly asking: "Are you planning something special tonight?"
