Upon hearing Nancy's words, Yanis replied, "Bonnie hasn't been in the store lately due to some personal matters. I'll let her know and maybe you can come back another day for a fitting?"
Nancy thought for a moment and said, "If Boss Cooke is there tomorrow, I'll come by in the morning after my prenatal check-up."
Yanis nodded and said, "Sounds good. I'll have Bonnie come in tomorrow too."
"Okay," Nancy agreed.
After their conversation ended, Nancy turned to Aunt Rivers and suggested softly, "Auntie Rivers, didn't you say you wanted to see the wedding dress? Why don't you go take a look now?"
"I will. Later on I'll ask for your opinions," Aunt Rivers replied before leaving.
Once Aunt Rivers was out of earshot, Nancy looked at Yanis with hesitation.
"What's wrong?" Yanis asked when he noticed that she kept trying to speak but couldn't seem to find the right words.
Nancy spoke softly as she said: "I... went to see Neve a few days ago."
Yanis looked at her with confusion as he wasn't sure why she suddenly brought up Neve.
"I'm not saying this because of anything else; what happened between us before may not have been appropriate on my part. But our relationship is still there - even though she doesn't have her glamorous appearance anymore and both of her parents are gone - she has nothing left," explained Nancy.
Yanis listened quietly without saying anything because he didn't know what would be appropriate at this time. So instead he remained silent while listening attentively as Nancy continued speaking:
"Yanis... I know deep down inside that you're kind-hearted person. What Neve did before was really bad but could you please..."
"Nancy," Yanis interrupted gently. "From the beginning when it came to Neve all I ever felt was envy towards how Zane treated her so well back then; how easily Zane gave his care and tenderness towards her while others saw me as someone who schemed things behind closed doors."
"Now that she's locked up it wasn't something that I forced upon or calculated against her," added Yanis hoping his explanation would help clear things up between them both.
"Do you understand where I'm coming from?"Nancy nodded. "I know, it's easy to say that Neve brought this on herself, but Yanis, you don't know that she could have gotten a shorter sentence if Zane hadn't spoken up. But in the end, she got seven years and six months."
After saying this, Nancy looked at Yanis. "Do you know why?"
Yanis looked back at Nancy and waited for her to continue speaking.
"It's because of Zane," Nancy said. "He spoke up about Neve and that's why she got sentenced for seven years and six months."
"Yanis, Neve is already 28 years old now," Nancy continued. "After seven years and six months in prison, she'll be almost 36 years old. She only has a few more years until she turns 40." She looked at Yanis earnestly. "I was thinking maybe we could talk to Mr. Lawrence about not making her serve the full sentence?"
Yanis was silent for a moment after hearing what Nancy had said before asking her directly: "Are you doing this because you want to help her or because Neve asked you to do it?"
Nancy hesitated when Yanis asked her question.
Seeing how hesitant Nancy was made it clear to Yanis that despite appearing strong-willed in the entertainment industry; in real life situations like these; however, Nancy is actually someone who lacks decision-making skills.
No matter what others say or suggest, she might just go along with them.
So most of what Nancy had been saying today probably came from things that Neve had told her.
Neve wanted out of prison.
That's why she would say things like this which would move someone like Nacy so much especially during pregnancy when women tend to be naive sometimes
In fact, Yanishad wantedto askNancy directly whether leaving the entertainment industry really meant having no connection withNeve whatsoever?
Nancy remained silent for a while before nodding slowly."She cried all day long,"she explained."She realized how impulsive some of the things were which ledher downthis path. She regrets everything nowand wants nothing more than beinga better person. So, Yanish, couldyou please talkto Mr. Lawrence?"
