The next day, it was still raining in Manches City. Yanis had an appointment with a client to take measurements, and they decided to meet at Blue Nestle in the city center. Due to the rain, Yanis arrived at the café more than ten minutes late.
"Sorry, there was traffic on the way," Yanis apologized as she approached the person.
"It's fine. With the rain, there's usually more traffic," the person said, pulling out a chair. "Miss Thompson, please have a seat."
Yanis nodded, "Thank you."
"What would you like to drink?"
"Anything is fine."
"Excuse me, two vanilla lattes, please," the person ordered, then turned to Yanis. "Can I still take a look at the pictures you sent me last time?"
Yanis nodded and handed over the photo album she had brought. "The ones I sent you before are at the back."
"Okay, let me take a look."
Yanis responded, "Sure."
"I'm sorry for being late," a male voice suddenly came from above.
When Yanis heard the voice, she looked up and glanced at the person standing by the table. She was slightly taken aback when she saw who it was.
"Miss Thompson, we meet again," Adam said with a smile, greeting Yanis.
Yanis nodded, "Mr. Bennett, why are you here?"
At this moment, the woman sitting across from Yanis spoke up, introducing herself, "Miss Thompson, do you know my cousin?"
When Yanis heard this, she looked at Adam again.
Adam approached and sat down across from Yanis, saying, "My sister's daughter, Juliette Bennet. It's her birthday today, and I just came to pick her up. I didn't expect to see Miss Thompson here."
"I made an appointment with Miss Thompson to take measurements. I want to customize some jewelry," Juliette said, pushing the photo album she was holding toward Adam. "Brother, can you help me take a look?"
Adam reached out and took the album, flipping through it. "Don't you have any favorites yourself?"
"I do, but I think the ones I like are all pretty. I can't have them all," Juliette pouted, looking at Adam. "Brother, why don't you get me one, and then I can choose two."
Adam nodded and handed the album back to Juliette. "You can choose yourself, but I'll pay."
Juliette smiled at Adam, "Okay, thanks, big brother!"
Adam rubbed Juliette's head and then looked at Yanis. "Miss Thompson?"
After hearing Adam's words, Yanis came back to her senses and looked at Adam, "Hmm?"
"Is it because of my arrival that you're unhappy?" Adam asked, looking at Yanis.
Yanis's expression remained calm, "Mr. Bennett, don't overthink it. I was just lost in my thoughts earlier."
Adam nodded, "I thought Miss Thompson might be a little unhappy because of my presence."
"Brother, you haven't told me how you met Miss Thompson yet," Juliette looked at the photo album and, upon hearing Adam's words, raised her eyes to Adam and asked softly.
Adam briefly explained the incident that day to Juliette, "That's how we met."
Juliette replied, "Oh, I thought you were trying to pick up Miss Thompson."
"Look at your photos. You talk so much. Don't you want anything?" Adam said.
Juliette immediately fell silent and continued looking at the album.
Adam looked at Yanis after finishing his conversation with Juliette. "Miss Thompson, the incident last time should have been my responsibility. The car was taken by Mr. Lawrence's men later on, and I wanted to reimburse you for the repair costs, but you said it wasn't necessary. I still felt a bit guilty about it. If you have time, would you allow me to take you out for a meal?"
Yanis looked at Adam and responded, "Mr. Bennett, that matter is in the past, and it didn't cause any substantial harm. So, Mr. Bennett, there's no need to worry about it. Let's forget about the meal."
Yanis politely declined Adam's proposal.
After hearing Yanis's words, Adam chuckled softly. "Miss Thompson, you're quite guarded against me, aren't you?"
Yanis was about to respond when her phone, placed on the table, started ringing.
Yanis glanced at the caller ID and apologetically looked at Adam and Juliette. "Miss Juliette, please go ahead and look. I need to take this call."
Juliette nodded. "Sure, go ahead."
