I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 832

Chapter 832: He's Now a Little Brother

Yanis nodded. "What's wrong? Are you feeling jealous or surprised that Ivan messaged me first?"

Zane replied calmly, "Both."

Yanis reached out and took Zane's hand. "Don't be jealous. He's now... a little brother."

Upon hearing Yanis's words, Zane turned his head and looked at her. He whispered, "So, should he start calling me brother-in-law from now on?"

Yanis chuckled. "Would you dare to make him call you that?"

Zane pretended to think seriously for a few seconds. "We can give it a try next time."

Yanis smiled and said, "Let's go downstairs and take a walk. Bonnie is getting ready."

Zane agreed and held Yanis's hand as they walked towards the direction of the elevator.

Yanis's attempt to hide the incident from Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence was ultimately unsuccessful. When Yanis and Zane returned to the hospital room, the elderly couple was already sitting there.

Upon seeing the two people in the room, Yanis visibly hesitated for a moment before looking at Zane, hoping for an explanation.

Zane, meeting Yanis's gaze, gently shook his head, indicating that he hadn't revealed anything.

"Yanis, come here. Let me see you," Mrs. Lawrence beckoned Yanis with a wave of her hand when she saw her.

Yanis approached, greeting Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence before taking a seat beside Mrs. Lawrence.

"Why didn't you tell us about such a big incident? If it weren't for Phoebe accidentally letting it slip this morning, we would have been kept in the dark," Mrs. Lawrence said, holding Yanis's hand. "Did you get hurt anywhere?"

Yanis shook her head. "I didn't get hurt. I just inhaled too much smoke. Nothing serious, Grandma, please don't worry."

Mrs. Lawrence compassionately touched Yanis's face with her hand and then turned to look at Zane, who was standing nearby. "What's the matter with you? How could you not take care of Yanis properly? If anything had happened to her, I wonder how you would have handled it!"

"Grandma, it's not Zane's fault. It was my carelessness..."

"It definitely has something to do with him. If he had known she was going to come out, he should have been prepared. He bears half the responsibility for this," Mr. Lawrence interrupted Yanis before she could finish speaking.

Mr. Lawrence looked at Zane sternly and scolded him, "Luckily, nothing happened. If there had been any consequences, you wouldn't need to acknowledge us as your family anymore."

Faced with Mr. Lawrence's reprimand, Zane remained silent, allowing Mr. Lawrence to scold him without uttering a word.

After all, Zane also felt some self-blame for the incident.

"Mr. Lawrence, Mrs. Lawrence, this matter can't really be blamed on Mr. Lawrence. It was Yanis's innocence, but fortunately, nothing serious happened," Bonnie, who was sitting beside them, spoke softly, explaining on Zane's behalf.

Although both of them blamed Zane with their mouths, deep down they felt sorry for him.

After all, they had been through so much together from the beginning until now. They knew how difficult it was for them to reconcile and be together peacefully.

They didn't want anything else to go wrong. They didn't want to see any bad outcomes.

Fortunately, Ivan arrived just in time and saved Zane from the continued scolding by the Old Mr. Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence.

While eating, Bonnie whispered to Ivan, "You came just in time. You're practically Mr. Lawrence's lifesaver."

Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Ivan glanced at Zane's face and then back at Bonnie. "What do you mean?"

"I mean the two old folks were lecturing and scolding Zane. It had been going on for over half an hour. If you hadn't come, I think it would have continued for a while longer."

After hearing Bonnie's explanation, Ivan chuckled lightly. "Then I shouldn't have come in."
