After Nancy's husband finished speaking, he went to check on the child.
Yanis was speechless, caught between wanting to say something and holding back.
Just as Yanis was about to speak, Nancy reached out and gently shook her head, signaling for Yanis to stay quiet.
Yanis looked at Nancy and said, "You..."
The words were on the tip of her tongue, but Yanis swallowed them back.
Soon, someone entered the hospital room.
When Yanis saw the doctor coming in, she was a bit surprised. "Dr. Watson."
Dr. Watson was also surprised to see Yanis. "Miss Thompson, you're here too?"
Yanis nodded. "I'm here with a friend."
Dr. Watson glanced at Nancy lying in bed and then looked at Yanis. "So, you know each other."
Yanis hmmed and asked, "Dr. Watson, how is she doing? Is it serious?"
Dr. Watson truthfully explained Nancy's condition. "There shouldn't be any further complications, but the baby may need to drink formula milk for a few days."
As soon as Dr. Watson finished speaking, Nancy's husband's dissatisfied voice rang out, "Why does he have to drink formula milk?"
Dr. Watson looked at Nancy's husband. "At this stage, the mother's condition doesn't allow for breastfeeding..."
"No!" Nancy's husband interrupted Dr. Watson. "The child can't drink formula milk. Many formula milks these days aren't good!"
Dr. Watson frowned. "I'm saying it's temporary. Once the mother's condition stabilizes later on, it will be fine."
Nancy's husband glanced at Nancy's face. "Then why can't it be done now? He ate so many delicious things during pregnancy, wouldn't it all be wasted?"
Yanis never expected Nancy's husband to say such things.
Even Dr. Watson thought Nancy's husband's words were a bit extreme.
"While it's true that some of what the mother consumes is absorbed by the baby, but..."
"I don't care. Don't give me your long speeches. Not everything doctors say is correct. My son won't drink formula milk!"
Nancy's husband's tone was firm, leaving no room for compromise.
Dr. Watson, possibly encountering such a relative for the first time, didn't know what to say for a moment.
At that moment, Aunt Rivers returned with something and asked the doctor about Nancy's condition and any special precautions.
Dr. Watson repeated what he had just said.
After Dr. Watson finished repeating, Aunt Rivers nodded. "Alright, thank you, doctor."
"Mom, the child can't drink formula milk!" Nancy's husband said to Aunt Rivers in a stern voice.
Aunt Rivers ignored Nancy's husband and thanked Dr. Watson before turning to face Nancy's husband. "Then what should he eat? Should he eat you?"
After Aunt Rivers finished speaking, she turned to Nancy and said, "Nancy, your parents should be here in half an hour. Take some rest for now."
Nancy responded, "Okay."
Dr. Watson, having other patients to attend to, left the ward after explaining the situation.
Yanis looked at Nancy and said, "I have something to take care of, so I'll head back for now. I'll come to see you tomorrow."
Nancy replied, "Okay."
After saying goodbye to Aunt Rivers, Yanis left the hospital. Once she left, she drove to the store to retrieve her phone.
