Harper remained unchanged as she glanced at Annie. "It's nothing. Remember what I said, okay?"
Annie was still curious but quickly nodded.
The two entered the company, and Harper went straight to Frank's office. He had just arrived a while ago and immediately asked upon seeing Harper, "Harper, is your back feeling better?"
He looked at Harper with concern, hoping she would rest more if she wasn't feeling well.
Harper smiled lightly and nodded. "Much better."
"Good, but still, take care. You're pregnant now, so you need to be careful about everything, okay?"
"Alright, I know." Harper replied softly, then added, "Frank, I have something to discuss with you."
"What's the matter? Tell me." Frank looked at her.
"My car is sent for maintenance, and I want to go to the hospital for a routine prenatal checkup. So, I was wondering if you'll be going out later? If not, can you lend me the car for the morning? I could take a cab, but I'm worried about the rush hour when I come back."
Harper's reasoning had no flaws or anomalies, making it entirely reasonable and impeccable.
Frank didn't hesitate and handed her the keys. "Of course, it's no problem. I thought it was something serious. It's just a car, no need to be so polite."
He smiled lightly, looking very gentle, causing Harper's eyes to flicker slightly.
She took the keys from Frank's hand, then heard him ask, "Is Annie driving you there?"
Annie didn't enter the office; she stood outside with her arms crossed. Upon hearing her name, she looked over with a distant and aloof gaze, which was just perfect for the act.
Harper responded to Frank, "Yes, she'll accompany me, and it's good to have company. Besides, we can also visit Grandma there."
"Eleanor is getting ready for surgery, right?"
"Yes, it's coming soon."
"When would it be convenient to visit her?"
Frank asked sincerely.
Harper replied, "After the surgery, perhaps. Otherwise, I'm afraid she'll be under too much pressure."
"Alright, I'll follow your arrangement. Now, you and Annie should hurry up and leave."
Harper nodded, then walked out of Frank's office with the keys in hand.
As soon as they left the office, she exchanged a glance with Annie, and then the two left the company.
They took the elevator to the parking garage. Annie asked, "What exactly are you up to?"
"Nothing, just figuring out some things."
"What things? Can't you tell me yet?"
Harper stopped and looked at Annie, her face serious. "Not for now. I'll tell you when I figure it out, okay?"
Annie furrowed her brows slightly but then nodded in agreement.
Since she had her own plans, Annie wouldn't force her.
That was how they were; they wouldn't get into conflicts or displeasure just because one of them didn't want to talk about something.
Once they were in Frank's car, and after the car left the parking lot, Annie asked, "Are we really going to the hospital?"
"Yes, we are."
