The moment Amber said that, Tracy’s face darkened.
If it had been yesterday, she might not have had such a big reaction, but last night, everything that Marry had done had disappointed her utterly in this family.
From when they’d arrived at the Zouch home yesterday to the wedding ceremony today, Amber wanted to insult them to their face.
Tracy found it all intolerable.
“You’ve got no right to judge my husband’s character. Even if he was living off me, what’s that got to do with you?”
Tracy said calmly, continuing, “If I remember things correctly, you borrowed three hundred thousand from me four years ago, right?
“Along with the two hundred thousand my mother lent you behind our backs.
“It’s been four years, but you haven’t returned one cent of that money. The bracelet you’re wearing is worth fifty thousand, isn’t it? You can’t be pressed for money. Can we have the five hundred thousand back now? Of course, since we’re relatives, it’s free of interest.”
The things Amber had said about Yuri and Baron had already attracted everyone’s attention.
Now, Tracy was imitating Amber and deliberately raising her voice. In the large banquet hall, everyone heard her words.
No one had expected Tracy to suddenly bring up old debts in a scene like this.
Usually, in the eyes of the Zouch family, Tracy was a mild-mannered woman, who’d never actively asked for money back after she lent it.
Today was a great occasion for the Zouches, and guests were everywhere.
Asking for her debt back right now, Tracy was caring nothing for Amber’s reputation.
Even Baron was surprised, but seeing Tracy’s change, he was still happy for her.
“What – what are you babbling about?”
Amber panicked, protesting, “When have I ever taken three hundred thousand from you? And when have I borrowed money from you mother?”
“Tracy, this is a big day for your cousin. How about you cut us some slack on me?”
Peter murmured, having made his way next to Tracy.
Tracy didn’t cut any slack at all, saying mildly. “I almost forgot about you, dear uncle. Thanks for speaking up. The two mansions in the Zouch courtyard were built with my mother’s money. The one for Granddad and Grandma, we’ll treat it as a bit of filial piety, but your mansion cost about a million or so to begin with. Now that you’re living the life with six, seven hundred-thousand-dollar cars, you’re probably not pressed for that one million, right? How about you return that too?”
What a turn!
Tracy had asked to collect her debt from Amber, now she was collecting on Peter as well. Every Zouch family member was shocked.
Was this the same Tracy who shut up and took it?
“Bullshit!
“I built those two mansions with my own money, what’s that got to do with your mother?
“Come on out and explain, Sherry!”
A humiliated Peter spun to Sherry and yelled.
Terry had already brought this up at the Zouch household yesterday, but only to the Zouches.
But today, with friends and relatives on the scene, Tracy had spilled the beans on all this. This was scandalous for the Zouch family.
“That’s enough, Tracy!”
Sherry said fearfully.
Tracy laughed self-deprecatingly. “What? You don’t even have the courage to admit your own mistake in front of a crowd?”
“I’m begging you, when we’re done with the wedding, let’s discuss this together, okay?”
Sherry’s tone was pleading, but her pupils were cold.
