Chapter 56 Inferiority Complex
Felicia cringed away from her brother.
Micah’s eyes were burning brightly with fury, scaring her.
She took another step back.
Everyone knew she was the younger sister of the famed Micah Cavanaugh, but few were aware that they did not have a close relationship.
Micah had five years on her.
The age gap meant Felicia had nothing in common with her big brother.
While Micah skipped grades in school and clinched award after award, Felicia hung out with her posse of girlfriends at malls and gossiped about boys.
She didn’t have Micah’s IQ.
Nor his ambition.
Whenever Micah tried to talk to her about her suffering grades, the lecture often ended with an argument.
As soon as she finished high school, Felicia applied for an overseas university.
Her grades couldn’t make the cut, but a generous donation from her parents ensured she got admitted, after
all.
Felicia spent the next four years away from her brother.
Her friends were envious of her having such a successful brother, and Felicia kept her inferiority complex well
hidden.
Yet, she was secretly pleased when she learned Micah had married a good–for–nothing wife.
Finally, her brother had made a mistake.
She wasn’t sure how she felt when Micah and Darya got a divorce.
On the one hand, she was glad he’d gotten rid of that woman.
In her view, Darya only had a pretty face and no family background to match.
On the other hand, Felicia was enraged.
She was insulted that Darya, a nobody, dared spurn her brother.

<Chapter 56 Inferiority Complex
If there had to be a divorce, it should be Micah who discarded Darya, not the other way around.
All these complex emotions came to a head at the party tonight.
When she confronted Darya, even Felicia herself was unclear if she was doing it for her brother or for herself.
But one thing was clear–she seemed to have made a mistake.
Micah didn’t appear to be pleased about her intervention, as evidenced by the wrath on his face at the moment.
Micah clamped a hand on his sister’s arm.
Standing this close, he could smell the alcohol on her breath, which explained the reason for her outburst.
‘Let’s go.‘ Micah regretted the decision of allowing Felicia to come to the party tonight.
The invitation indicated a plus–one, and he didn’t want to bring a random woman with him.
Felicia had promised to behave herself, but now it seemed that she’d broken her promise, once again.
‘I don’t want to leave,‘ Felicia pouted.
She was scared of her big brother, but she refused to be led away like a dog on a leash in front of so many people, especially Darya Miller.
She struggled to break free of Micah’s hold. ‘I’m not leaving. I’m staying with my friend.‘
Micah knew what his sister’s weakness was.
He threatened, ‘Come with me now, or I’m putting you on the next flight out of the country.‘
Like what he did with Regina.
Felicia froze.
She stopped struggling.
Micah nodded at Darya, then left with his reluctant sister.
The crowd dispersed slowly.
‘Show’s over.‘ Darya glanced at the buffet table. ‘I’m hungry.”
She took Timothy’s hand. ‘Let’s go and sample the cranberry brie mini tartlets.‘
Timothy remained rooted on the spot.
Darya saw the dark look on his face. ‘What’s wrong?‘
‘Is it true?‘ His voice was grave.
‘Is what true?‘
‘What she said.‘
‘Felicia?‘ Darya tilted her head. ‘She said a lot of things tonight. You’d have to be more specific.‘
‘She said Micah only married you so you’d donate blood to another woman, a woman he’s in love with.‘

<Chapter 56 Inferiority Complex
Darya recalled the arrangement she had with Micah. ‘It’s true, mostly.”
Felicia neglected to mention that Darya was the one who coerced Micah into marriage.
Thinking back, Darya realised that Regina Fischer was the true beneficiary of the arrangement.
Darya herself got three years of marriage out of the deal.
Micah, in contrast, got nothing.
He had to tolerate living under the same roof with a stranger and could not have a legitimate relationship with
his true love.
In hindsight, the marriage was a mistake from beginning to end.
Darya felt slightly guilty.
Which was why she tolerated Micah’s uncharacteristic approach.
His sudden interest in her was puzzling, but she was sure that with time, he’d come to the same realisation- they were not suitable for each other.
‘How could he do that to you?‘ Timothy clenched his fists.
‘Hmm?‘ Darya’s mind was pulled back to the present.
‘How much blood did you give to that woman?‘ Timothy demanded.
