Callum did not agree immediately. Instead, he pondered for a moment before saying, "I know you hate Xavia, and neither do I condone Ken marrying her, but you have to tell me the purpose of inviting Xavia out. I'll help you get your revenge, but not now."
"Oh, come on. You're just afraid that your son can't handle the blow, so you want to take it step by step. Truly, I can't sense your sincerity at all.’ Chloe sneered.
After researching Callum online, she discovered that he held the prestigious title of count from a young age and had married the most favored princess of the royal family. They had spent the last twenty years together and were blessed with a son and a daughter. It seemed unlikely that he would willingly recall the past and the mistreatment her mother had endured.
Chloe had met Kenneth once, and even without knowing him well, she could see how much he cared for Xavia. With Callum's status, Xavia was not worthy of his attention, but he cared about his son's feelings and was unwilling to force them apart so mercilessly. Sooner or later though, Callum would take action against Xavia, regardless of whether Chloe had made this request today.
"You're right. I won’t deny that I care about Ken, but I care about you too," Callum said with a frown as he sipped his coffee. "Xavia is Ken's first love, and he's smitten with her. If something happens to her, the first one he’ll think to look for is you."
In other words, Kenneth might cause trouble for Chloe.
"Perfect. You're his father, so you can handle him," Chloe said flatly as she gazed straight into Callum's eyes, causing him to chuckle helplessly.
This willful behavior was actually a test. Though he had not raised Chloe, she was still his child at the end of the day. He would never favor one child over the other, especially after what he did to her mother.
"If you’re unwilling to do it, then forget everything I said today," Chloe said impatiently.
She no longer wanted to waste her time on Callum. She had come to meet him today just to gauge his attitude. And as expected, he disappointed her.
"I'll meet you at Dawnstar at noon tomorrow."
