Joseph narrowed his eyes as he noticed her strange behavior. He walked up to her and asked, "What's the matter?"
Looking a little awkward, Chloe said, "Can you get Ms. Frieda for me?"
"Are you not feeling well?" he asked, his voice thick with concern. When he saw her placing her arm over her stomach, he continued, "Are you having a stomach ache? I'll take you to the hospital."
"No, no. Just get Ms. Frieda for me," Chloe urged impatiently.
"I can't. I need to know what's going on with you," Joseph insisted. Even though his face remained cold and emotionless, his heart clenched with worry.
"Why you... Fine, fine. I'll tell you," Chloe blurted out in frustration, glaring at him. Why could this stupid guy not pick up on her cues?
Before Joseph could respond, pain shot through her lower abdomen. Chloe's face turned pale and she bit her lip. The first day was always painful, and she needed painkillers to ease it.
Joseph was stunned. Without waiting for Chloe to say anything, he draped his coat over her waist and picked her up in his arms.
"What are you doing?" Even though Chloe resisted such an intimate gesture, she refrained from moving. Though she was tall, she appeared delicate and small in his arms.
"I'm taking you to the car. You can't appear before your employees like this," Joseph replied calmly.
Chloe subconsciously reached behind, "Is my skirt…"
There was nothing on her skirt. But to avoid potential staining from walking, Joseph nodded knowingly and said, "Yes, quite a large spot."
Chloe froze. She obediently waited for Joseph to contact Frieda and bring her a sanitary pad.
