Chloe had no recollection of the things that Zoelle mentioned, and she only had a vague memory of Zoelle. She could not even remember how they knew each other.
"Huh? Are you pulling my leg?”
It had only been two days since, and Chloe had forgotten everything?
"I'm not. Anyway, I have to go to work now. Bye," Chloe replied coolly. She had a meeting to attend this morning, and she had to get there on time.
Zoelle frowned and said, "Joseph was in a car accident. It seems quite serious."
Chloe froze and then she replied calmly. "Then I wish him a speedy recovery."
Zoelle's frown deepened. Something did not seem right to her, but Chloe's reaction did not appear feigned. Not only had Chloe forgotten about her, but she also displayed such indifference toward Joseph. He was her ex-husband, after all. Even mockery would be better than this lukewarm attitude.

Chloe soon pushed the things Zoelle said to the back of her mind. In fact, she found it quite puzzling. When she arrived at Exotic Star, she reviewed the recent sales data and then held a meeting with her department staff. At noon, she grabbed some takeaway for lunch and went to look for Noah.
His secretary looked surprised and said, "Oh, Mr. Noah didn't come to the office today. Don’t you know?"
Chloe frowned slightly and said, "No, I don't.”
The secretary looked at her awkwardly and continued, "I think you should call Mr. Noah instead."
"Okay."
Finding a quiet spot, Chloe put down the takeaway and called Noah.
"What's up, Coco?"
The warm and gentle voice of the young man came through the phone, accompanied by background noises as if he were in an open space where the wind was blowing loudly.
"Where are you?"
Noah paused for a moment before replying, "I'm at the airport. I just got off the plane. I'm heading out on a business trip today and will be back tonight."
