Chapter 19
Chapter 19
“Walt… What! Cheated on you?” Lisa couldn’t believe her eyes when she heard about what happened between her brother and his wife.
“Dad… Don’t tell me you believe that crappy story… Summer is the last person who would do something like that to my brother. She loves him, and she’s not like that,” Lisa defended her.
“How can you still defend that woman even after everything? Do you know the pain your brother went through trying to move on from what happened?” Mr. Hughes, Xander’s sixty–three–year–old Dad scolded Lisa.
“I know you never liked Summer… Neither you nor Mom was in support of their union, but that shouldn’t stop you from telling the truth…”
“She had a child for another man! Your brother is sterile, yet she got pregnant…”
“Have you ever wondered what if it was a misunderstanding? What if she never cheated on Xander?” She yelled at the top of her lungs frustratingly as she stared at her Dad unbelievably.
“How are you so sure of…”
“Because I know Summer more than anyone else. I know what she’s capable of doing. She’s not the kind of woman who would cheat! She is not the kind
of woman who would hurt her husband!” Lisa cut him off, and the man scoffed as he sat on the couch.
“What do you want to do now? Go find the bitch and bring her back? Have you bothered to ask your brother about what happened?” Mr. Hughes scoffed
and rolled his eyes as he reached for the newspaper on the center table.
“Dad…”
“You should talk to your brother about your Mom’s health. That’s the important thing to do now,” Mr. Hughes said dismissively, and Lisa knew better than to waste time with him.
She walked out of the living room and headed to the parking lot, hopped inside one of the cars, and drove off
Lisa couldn’t bring herself to imagine the pain Summer must’ve gone through over the years, the pain she must’ve been through from being accused of cheating. The thought of not being there for her when she might’ve needed someone by her side the most was killing Lisa.
Lisa tried to hold back her tears, but she failed as they streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably.
Lisa arrived at Xander’s mansion after a few minutes‘ ride, and fortunately, he had just driven in too. She pulled over at the parking lot and alighted from
the car.
“Aunt Lisa,” Ella squeaked excitedly as she ran into Lisa’s arms, and squatted down to her level.
“Hey, baby girl. It’s been ages,” She patted Ella’s hair as she smiled at the little girl.
“When did you get back? Dad didn’t tell me that you came back, Ella said innocently in her tiny voice.
“Don’t mind me. I wanted to surprise you,” She pulled Ella in her arms and hugged her briefly.
“Lisa… You didn’t tell me you were coming over. Why didn’t you call?” Xander’s mood was a bit off, probably because of what happened earlier between him and Summer, or maybe something else happened. Who knows?
“We need to talk, Xander,” Her voice came out a bit harsh and filled with anger.
Chapter 19
“What happened, aunt? You don’t look fine,” Ella was quick to notice the expression on her face.
“Oh, I’m fine. I just came to talk with your uncle. Why don’t you wait inside for us, hmm? I’ll come inside as soon as we are done here,” Lisa towered over her and patted her hair.
“Alright, aunt. See ya,” Ella waved at her and walked away.
“I’ll wait inside, Daddy,” She said to Xander before she walked inside the house.
“What happened? You look like it was urgent. Did something happen?” He faced ber and asked.
“Do you believe that Summer cheated on you? Do you think she was seeing another man?” She looked into his eyes and asked.
“Lisa…” He paused and sighed deeply.
“Can we not talk about this, please? At least not…”
“I found out about everything that happened. You weren’t thinking you could hide it from me forever, were you?” She scoffed and rolled her eyes as she
walked over to him and stood in front of him.
