She stares back at him, shocked about his confession. She pinched her thigh to be sure she wasn’t dreaming, but it was reality. The man who 

dreaded and bullied her so much was really sitting in front of her and confessing his love to her, when she was planning to end things today, 

and move on with her life. 

For seconds, her heart freeze in her chest, and her brain couldn’t process what to say. It was the first time in her entire life someone was going to confess to her, and she didn’t even know how to react. Yes, she was supposed to be excited, not because she had feelings for him, but because someone finally confessed to her, but she was rather disappointed. She just lost a few pounds, and he now found her beautiful enough to be with her? 

“You love me? Why?” She finally spoke up, and he bit his bottom lip. 

“I don’t know…” 

“When did you start liking, or loving me, rather? Was it today?” She asked as she clenched her fingers under the table, feeling a bit nervous. 

“I don’t… I…I didn’t have the courage to face you after what happened in the past… but the more I tried to keep things to myself, the more it kept disturbing me, and I couldn’t take it in anymore,” He replied to her, trying to be as sincere as he could be, praying silently that she doesn’t end up rejecting her. 

She slowly nodded her head, not knowing what to say anymore. Taking a deep breath, she reached out for her purse that has been on the table. She brought out a cheque from inside, and dropped it on the table before she pushed it toward him. 

“I appreciate everything you have done for me, Xander… But I’m sorry, I won’t ever bring myself to be with a jerk,” She uttered, trying everything she could to avoid his gaze. Of course, she knew that all those were in the past, she knew he has been treating her nicely lately, doing that to convince her that he really liked her? What if he is lying because he felt she but what if he was just pretending? What if he 

was now beautiful after she lost some pounds? 

“This is a cheque of 4.2 million dollars… The two hundred thousand to buy my freedom as your slave… And the remaining four million for the 

help you

dad… Let me know if anything is remaining, and

“I will take my leave now,” She uttered before she stood up and with that, she strode out of the restaurant without sparing him another glance: 

Tears brimmed in his eyes as he stared into space. He has never been rejected all his life, and he just got the rejection of his life. What could he possibly do to win her heart? What the hell could he do to make her see his sincerity? 

While still trying to figure this out, his phone’s ringtone distracted him, and he checked the screen to see that the call was from Jenny. He rolled his eyes angrily and dropped the phone on the table. Talking about Jenny the young lady has refused to give up on trying to get back together with Xander, but his mind was already made up, and he wasn’t going to change it for any reason. 

He finally stood up and dragged his feet out of the restaurant, not after picking up his phone. He hopped inside his car once he stepped out of the restaurant, and drove off… 

Meanwhile, Summer’s mind was clouded with thoughts as the cabby drove her home. For some seconds, she asked herself if she made the
