The man walked over, grabbed her slender arm, and pulled her into his arms.
Rosa stumbled and bumped into his chest. Right then, her tears started falling harder.
Henry's handsome face darkened. One could almost see the dark chilly aura emanating from him.
"When you said that you're going home by yourself, is this what you mean? Huh?"
Rosa lowered her head and leaned into his arms without saying a word.
Henry narrowed his eyes and looked at her. He was already a little upset, but he still asked patiently, "What happened?"
Rosa took a deep breath and looked up. No one could tell whether it was tears or raindrops in her eyes.
She sobbed and replied, "Uncle... I lost something..."
The man frowned and asked, "What did you lose?"
"A book... that I used to like very much..."
She spoke painfully with a soft and trembling voice.
The man's heart trembled at her voice. He held her in his arms and coaxed her softly, "Don't cry. What book? I'll help you find it, okay?"
"No!" She grabbed his shirt and said, "No... no..."
"Okay, I won't. Don't cry, okay?" He lowered his head and wiped her tears as his heart ached.
Rosa choked between sobs, which led to a hiccup.
"It's pouring. Let's go back so we don't catch a cold!" Without thinking too much, he pulled her into the car.
Rosa sat in the passenger seat and looked as the rain poured. Her heart wrenched.
That "book"... Her youth...
At this moment, it was comepletely gone.
—
The man took her to Silver Beach and gave her a hot bath.
Then, he poured her a cup of ginger tea.
It was almost winter. If he didn't take care of her properly after being drenched from the rain, she would catch a cold.
At this moment, Rosa was like a doll.
The man treated her patiently for the entire time.
After a while, she changed into clean clothes and the man invited her to sit on the sofa.
"Have some ginger tea."
Rosa sat on the sofa obediently.
The man immediately dried her hair carefully with a hairdryer.
Rosa picked up the ginger tea he made and took a sip.
She frowned and thought, "What kind of strange taste is this? It tastes horrible!"
Five minutes later...
The man dried her hair until it was eighty per cent dry. He placed down the hairdryer and saw that she had barely touched the ginger tea.
Suddenly, he gazed at her deeply and said, "Why aren't you drinking it?"
Rosa bit her lips and looked at him with puppy eyes as she pleaded, "Uncle... can I not drink it? It... it tastes bad..."
"Which one tastes better, ginger tea or medicine?"
Rosa was stunned and immediately understood what he meant.
But the taste of ginger tea was really strange. It was... an indescribable taste.
"Uncle, I'm very healthy... I rarely get sick..." She frowned and explained.
Henry's thin lips curled into a faint smile. "What a bad girl!"
The next second, he picked up the ginger tea in her hand and took a sip.
Rosa seemed to have understood immediately. She turned her head and tried to avoid him.
However, the man seemed to have expected her reaction. He raised his hand and grabbed her face, not letting her have any room to hide.
Then, he fed her the tea with a kiss.
Before she could swallow that bitter ginger taste, the man kept filling her mouth with more.
He continued doing so until she finished all the bitter ginger tea.
But even so, the man seemed to have no intention of letting her go.
She was suppressed by his presence.
The girl sank onto the soft sofa, and her hands subconsciously pressed against his chest. "Henry..."
The fresh scent from her bath and her fragrance were intertwined.
He was mesmerized by this pleasant smell.
"I have something to tell you..."
"Hm? About what?" His lips never moved away. They were still pressing against hers.
Rosa frowned and said while panting, "Can I not go tomorrow?"
Henry immediately paused.
He stared at her with dark eyes that were as deep as the black hole.
Rosa suddenly felt a little guilty. She said timidly, "Uncle... I think we should just leave it. I'm not ready yet..."
Henry stood up and pulled her up.
"What do you need to be ready?" He asked in a deep voice.
Rosa bit her lips and said, "I think... I'm not ready to see your parents, and... I don't want to be humiliated."
In the end, she still said it.
She was a coward.
He gave her a sidelong glance as he pinched her ear with his slender fingers. "Do you not listen when I speak?"
Rosa's ears were in pain from being pinched. She pouted and glared at him unhappily.
"Didn't I tell you that as long as I'm here, you don't need to deal with anything? You just need to be there!"
"Are you that capable?" She frowned and asked unhappily.
"Shouldn't you know best how capable I am?" If he meant something, she should know better than anyone else.
