“Hmph, what did you expect? My mom and Sandy are both in there watching her, but Sienna is sticking to her story about being hurt. Once those test results come back, she’s bound to make a scene.”

Shane didn’t look optimistic. “Whitney, did you get a statement from those three drunks?”

“Yeah, I got it,” Whitney shot him a glance. “They admitted you paid them to assault Sienna.”

“What?” Shane’s face drained of color. “Are you even on my side? I gave you money—make them tell the truth!”

“Relax,” Whitney turned away, eyes on the guest room door as it slowly opened.

Looked like the doctor was coming out.

“The doctor’s out, and you still don’t have the real statement. How can I not be freaking out?” Shane was about ready to toss Whitney out the door.

But Whitney just gave him this sly, almost mischievous smile. She strolled toward the room, her gaze cold and intriguing. “Let’s see what the test says first. The doctor must’ve collected samples. Sienna probably thinks she’s got this in the bag.”

“Samples? You mean from those three guys?” Shane followed tightly behind, his broad shoulders tense. He had no idea how Whitney could turn this situation around now.

It looked like Sienna’s plan was falling perfectly into place.

And Whitney had basically handed her the evidence! Had Whitney completely lost her mind?

“Whitney, we can’t let those three guys go in there. Get them out of here! If we get rid of them, the samples won’t match up. Sienna’s trying to frame Sandy, and I can’t let her succeed.”

Whitney shot him a sideways grin. “Who said the samples are from those three? There’s no way it’s any of them.”

“What?”

Whitney’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Now that’s what makes this interesting, doesn’t it?”
