Before Clarissa left the front desk, the receptionist passed her a name card, which she absentmindedly placed into her bag.
When she got to Seth’s room, he opened the door for her.
Seth was very tall. In his glasses, he looked like a scholar; very professional, giving off a sense of accountability. He also looked very charismatic and capable in a learned way.
“You’re here.” Seth was only wearing a white shirt.
“Yeah.”
The way the two spoke was not distant at all, as if they had seen each other just yesterday. There was an indescribable sense of coordination and trust between them.
“I found some information. Come in and we can have a look together.” Seth then hit the Play/Pause button on what was playing on the TV.
The TV was displaying some photos and videos.
“These are all pictures of Iris and Victor Benson. Victor has been sick recently. Rather, he’s always been sick, and has been so for many years. Iris has returned to Lotharia, so you should be safe for now. As for why she’s so against you, I’ve found out that it has something to do with your family background. However, you’re definitely not Helen Jackson’s daughter. If you were, Iris wouldn’t be so against you. The only explanation is you’re probably the daughter of someone well-matched to her who’s also her rival,” Seth explained. “As for whose daughter you really are, it’s still a mystery. I can't even find any leads.”
Clarissa had been looking at the footage all the while.
She had long accepted that it was unlikely to look into her mysterious family background. Iris wouldn’t be so kind as to tell her about it, either.
“As for what you said about the mole on Iris’s ear, well… The only explanation is that she’s had it removed. It’s not difficult. Anyway, these are all the photos I could find of Iris.” Seth showed the photos to Clarissa one by one.
Seth had brought a large number of photos and videos. The two looked at them until it was past midnight, and Clarissa inevitably grew drowsy.
“I’m going to sleep,” Clarissa said. “Bye, Seth.”
“Have you seen him?” Seth asked just as Clarissa got to the door.
Clarissa’s footsteps faltered. She knew who Seth was asking about.
Through a classmate’s recommendation, she went to a place called UC Psychiatric Clinic.
When she had first gone in, her face was plagued with deep anxiety.
The psychiatrist, Seth Highmore, was also the founder of UC Psychiatric Clinic. His middle name was Damian.
“Your middle name is nearly the same as his, only the spelling is different. It sounds the same,” Clarissa muttered while holding the card.
Could this be some twisted form of fate?
“Who?” Seth asked gently.
“My ex-husband. His name is Damien, spelled with an ‘e’. It sounds the same, but it’s not exactly the same.”
“Ah, this is quite common. There are so many people in the world, so it’s not unusual for there to be repeated names. ”
