Chapter 103
Andrew dropped his gaze and glanced at her. Meeting his eyes, Madelyn couldn’t help but blurt out anxiously, “I’m telling
the truth.”
She was worried that he didn’t believe her. Yet, he said nothing more other than let out a hum in acknowledgment.
Her heart skipped a beat. What exactly did that mean?
But since he didn’t press any further, she wouldn’t offer any further explanation, either. After all, she also couldn’t explain it clearly.
In the dimly lit bedroom, Madelyn nestled in his embrace and habitually wrapped her arms around his waist. This was a habit she’d had since young, and now she was finally picking it up again.
She slept soundly, but Andrew couldn’t sleep all night. He gazed at her under the moonlight. Remembering her wellbeing, he withheld his urges.
Madelyn soon faced the consequences of his suppressed
desires the next morning. As she stared at him in a daze, he covered her eyes with his hands.
“Darling, you’re going to be in trouble if you look at me like that.”
She flushed. His deep chuckle made a rush of heat suffuse her.
“Are you hungry? What would you like for breakfast?”
It was a normal question, but Madelyn found his tone.
inexplicably odd. She quickly shook her head. “You go downstairs first. I’ll eat after I wake up later.”
“I can stay with you.
Sensing the impending danger, she shook her head again. “No!”
“Today’s a weekend. I can spend the day with you however you want.” His tone grew more suggestive.
Madelyn tensed. Feeling aggrieved, she whined, “Darling, I’m still recovering.”
“I know, so stop looking at me like that.”
Hearing this, she quickly leaped out of bed and fled. Her haste. resembled that of a rabbit, and she certainly lacked the frailness of a patient.
A smile spread across Andrew’s face. In fact, Madelyn’s physical condition was no longer a major issue.
What truly worried him was the blood clots in her brain. Though the doctors had given a specific assessment, he still wasn’t reassured.
