Chapter 107
But Carrie’s bravado soon faded within a minute. She began to panic again and ramble on, “Say, Maddie, Jackson won’t sue me, right? Will he send me to prison? You have to protect me!”
Carrie knew how ruthless Jackson could be. He could be endearingly sweet, but he could also tear one to pieces once
he unleashed his ruthlessness.
Madelyn chanced a glance at Carrie. “How badly did you beat her up?”
Carrie fell silent.
Madelyn pressed her lips together. She knew Carrie well, and she certainly wouldn’t hold back if the other party provoked her first.
She retrieved the surveillance footage of the cafe and watched it calmly, while Carrie grew increasingly nervous.
When she saw Carrie smashing a chair over Sophia’s head, she slammed the laptop shut. The noise startled Carrie.
“You nearly beat her to death,” Madelyn said.
“I really didn’t know she was Jackson’s mom. I thought the mother of one of Jackson’s other girlfriends had come to cause trouble.
She was telling the truth. After all, Madelyn was aware that the mothers of Jackson’s other girlfriends had indeed come to trouble her before..
“Even if Jackson won’t sue you, his mom probably won’t spare you.”
Carrie’s chest tightened. “What should I do?”
“You’re finally scared now, huh?”
Though Carrie was bold, she knew she was in serious trouble.
“The safest way is to go abroad and lay low for a while.”
“Huh?” Without much thought, Carrie instantly blurted out, “But I’m really busy right now!”
She was swamped with work and still had several drafts to complete.
Madelyn sighed. “Do you think Jackson will let you stay at the company?”
Carrie fell silent. She nearly beat his mother to death, and him breaking up with her was just the start of her repercussions She’d eventually lose her job.
