Chapter 143
Andrew was now in a good mood from being soothed by Madelyn, but she still got an earful and was sternly warned not to see Easton again after they reached the company.
Madelyn might have agreed to whatever he said right then, but she still could not get out of bed after being taught a lesson. She fell asleep comfortably in the lounge.
While in her daze, she felt that she had forgotten something. That was when Stella’s call came, leaving her dumbfounded.
On the phone, Stella calmly asked, “What are you doing?”
“I…”
Could she say she was taking a nap? Of course not!
Madelyn quickly got up.
“I’ll bring you lunch right away. Just wait for half an hour.”
After saying that, Madelyn hung up the phone before Stella could respond. She smacked her forehead, wishing she could just end herself with that smack.
Truly, good–looking men could lead one astray.
She secretly vowed that from now on, she would avoid Easton like the plague, or it could lead to a lot of trouble.
Half an hour later, Madelyn brought the meal to Stella’s
ward. Stella’s piercing gaze made her feel more uneasy than when she had to deal with Andrew.
“You must be starving, right? Eat up.”
With a warm smile, Madelyn approached Stella in an ingratiating manner.
With Carrie unable to be there and the Jimenez family the way they were, Madelyn was the only one Stella could count on. Madelyn didn’t think she would mess up like this.
Compared to Madelyn’s unease, Stella seemed indifferent.
“It’s fine. I’m already past the point of hunger!”
Madelyn wondered how hungry Stella was for her to be past the point of hunger.
When Madelyn gave it some thought, she realized that she was also past the point of hunger.
“You’re not the only one who hasn’t eaten. I didn’t even have breakfast!”
When she went to Garcia Manor the day before, she didn’t have anything to eat, but Andrew remembered that she wouldn’t have eaten and prepared lunch for her at the
company.
But since he was angry that day, there was no one to care about her meals. Madelyn felt aggrieved as she thought
about it.
When Stella heard that she hadn’t even had breakfast, she wasn’t as angry anymore and raised her eyebrow, asking, ” What happened earlier?”
Madelyn recounted the whole story of running into Easton while getting her lunch.
The more Stella listened, the more she felt that Easton must have severely offended Madelyn.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dumped the soup on him.
“Since Andrew seemed angry earlier, I completely forgot about you. Please don’t be mad, okay?” Madelyn coaxed her.
After hearing what Madelyn said, Stella wasn’t angry
“Alright then.”
Stella nodded. In actuality, she hadn’t eaten since the night before and was starving. This small portion of food wouldn’t be enough to share.
She felt her heart pounding. She wondered how long she had been out and why he called
