Madelyn’s expression turned gloomy.

“I have nothing to say to you.”

With that, she turned to leave.

When she reached the foyer, she noticed the door was

closed. She tried to open it, but it was locked from the outside.

She turned to look at Elena.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

The calmness in Madelyn’s eyes made Elena hate her even more. Elena wondered where Madelyn got the courage to remain so fearless.

“Sit. Let’s talk.”

Elena tried her best to sound calm despite the emotions swirling inside her.

Elena pretended to be hurt.

“Did you forget what I did when Mom didn’t buy you new clothes? When you came home from school, and there was no food, it was me who saved some food for you!”

disregarded their sisterly bond.

Madelyn’s initial cold smile disappeared.

“I was at the Miller residence for ten years. Amelia and Caleb always knew where I was but never sought me out.. They only acted like loving parents and begged me to return because you fell for Andrew.”
