Chapter 19

After coaxing Madelyn back into the bedroom, Andrew and Rowan went back to the study.

Andrew said, “Go and find out what’s happened to her recently.”

He had told Rowan and Jason to keep an eye on her, but her transformation had been extremely smooth and sudden.

The way she dealt with Easton when facing him alone tonight had made Andrew’s trust in her grow even stronger. Since it wasn’t an act, something must have happened to her to cause such a drastic transformation.

“Alright.” Rowan was also very curious about why Madelyn had changed. He

wondered if she was just putting on an act again.

When Andrew returned to the bedroom, Madelyn had finished showering and was waiting obediently for him in bed.

She had always insisted on sleeping in separate rooms with him, and it was surprising to find her staying up for him in their room.

Andrew took off his clothes and headed to the bathroom.

“Darling, let me give you a shower.” Madelyn jumped out of bed and ran toward him.

Andrew laughed. “No, it’s okay.”

“No, let me do it. Your wound mustn’t come into contact with water.” After he showered, she would have to change the dressing on his wound for him.

Andrew hugged her and gave her a kiss. “If I bring you inside, I’m afraid I won’t be able to shower properly.”

“What do you mean by that?” The moment she said it, Madelyn realized what Andrew was hinting at, and she blushed hotly. She glared playfully at him. “Can you just stop for a minute?”

“I could never do it in the past, and I find it even harder now!”

Madelyn was rendered speechless.

Fine!

Even though she had treated him coldly in her past life and hadn’t shown any interest in him at all, he had never given up trying. Now, he would never let an opportunity

slip.

“You can go in yourself, then!” Madelyn turned and quickly jumped back into bed, looking like a nimble rabbit.

Andrew smiled fondly as he watched her.

Did Madelyn think that she could avoid him that easily?

When it was time for Andrew to get his dressing changed, he overpowered Madelyn aggressively and made it impossible for her to escape him. Finally, she lay back on the bed, exhausted, and fell into a deep sleep at once.

When she woke up the next day, Madelyn jumped up indignantly.

He had been so eager last night that she had completely forgotten to change his dressing!

“You’re not allowed to touch me again in the future.”

Hearing that, Andrew grinned.

Madelyn was furious. She hastily got the first aid kit to change the dressing on his wound. A scab had formed over it, and she saw that it was recovering fairly well.

However, she was still worried, so she called Ivan to come over to take a look at it.

While they were at the breakfast table, Rowan came in to make yet another report about work.

Madelyn gave him a look of faint irritation. She had never thought much about it in the past, but now, she felt that Rowan was oppressing Andrew.

“Mr. Miller, something has happened.” Rowan sneaked a glance at Madelyn before handing his tablet over to Andrew.

Madelyn frowned. What had Rowan meant by that glance at her? Did the work report have something to do with her?

There was a bang as Andrew slammed the tablet down on the dining table.

Madelyn’s heart skipped a beat in fright.

She wondered if something bad had happened.

She reached out and picked up the tablet to look at it. The striking headline read: Andrew Miller’s Wife and Her Immoral Late–Night Date With Easton Miller!”

The accompanying photo was of Easton hugging her last night.

What about the photos of her slapping Easton in the face and kicking him? Why hadn’t those been released? Was the reporter blind?
