Chapter 25
Due to Andrew’s lack of tact, Madelyn was unable to move back into
the Miller residence.
Andrew was in a bad mood when they left. Madelyn could feel the oppressive atmosphere, and she knew that he was angry.
She took his arm and initiated a conversation, saying, “Mom made such delicious food today. I wish I could come back every day for
meals.”
Andrew remained silent.
Madelyn said again, “Darling, did you see how ugly I looked on the news? Is that why you don’t like me anymore?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Since when had he ever not liked her?
She was the one who had continuously been trying to escape him over the years. He had never once thought of letting her go.
Madelyn felt her heart melt when she heard what Andrew had blurted out. “Why are you ignoring me, then?”
She pretended not to know and looked up at him in an aggrieved
manner.
Andrew could no longer resist her. He pulled her onto his lap and looked at the foxy glint in her eyes. He gritted his teeth. “Why didn’t you tell me that you were going back to the Miller residence?”
When he heard at the office that she had gone to the Miller residence on her own, he knew immediately that his family had called to summon her back. She was sharp–witted and would never have gone back of her own accord at this point in time.
Madelyn could tell from how low his tone was that he was angry. She murmured, “Why should I have told you? It’s not like I’m a child. I cant take care of these things.”
Andrew’s gaze grew stern.
Madelyn scrunched up her face. “Darling!”
“To me, you’ll always be a child who needs to be protected.” Andrew hugged her, enveloping her in his clean, refreshing scent.
Madelyn was exasperated.
Did he want a wife or a child?
However, he had always spoiled her as if she were a child, and that had never changed no matter what happened.
Privately, Grace and Athena both hoped that her transformation was real.
