- Chapter 45 Ten minutes later, everyone in the living room gasped in shock. None. of them had expected such cruel and manipulative behavior from the eldest daughter of the Garcia family, who had always presented herself as a kind and mild–mannered young lady.
George repeated what he had told Grace the other day word for word. He even recounted how Elena had bribed him into going along with her plans. He was teary–eyed toward the end as he apologized profusely to Madelyn, “I’m sorry, Ms. Garcia. I was wrong to have betrayed Mr. Miller’s trust.
Elena was ashen–faced as she roared at George, “That was not what happened, George! Why are you lying?”
A chill ran down her spine when she felt everyone’s spiteful gaze on her. When George did not respond, she quickly turned to the most gullible person in the room for help. “Grandma, that wasn’t what happened at all! I didn’t hurt Andrew. George must have said all that
under duress!”
Athena glowered at her. She obviously bought George’s story.
Fear clawed its way into Elena’s system as her gaze flickered to the handcuffs swinging from the cops‘ hands. She turned to Athena once more, a silent pleading in her eyes. “Grandma, please! You’re all being lied to! Madelyn was the one who stabbed Andrew, not me!”
She was too afraid of being arrested and spending the rest of her life
behind bars to keep up her sisterly act. The moment she tore off her angeli ask and grimaced at Madelyn like a rabid animal, everyone cringed reproachfully.
Grace and Athena were shaking in anger after hearing George’s story for the second time. Athena tried to suppress her rage as she spat
as she
out the words, “Now that the truth is out, we’ll leave the matter to the police.”
Ryan understood the silent command in Athena’s tone and immediately stepped forward to speak with the cops.
Elena saw that the policemen were eager to do justice and realized. she could not manipulate her way out of this. She turned and fled.
Chaos erupted in the Miller residence as the policemen bolted after Elena. They successfully arrested her and led her out of the house. Even then, she could be heard screaming hysterically, “Madelyn, you bitch! You were the one who nearly killed Andrew, not me! You’ll pay for this!”
Pain flashed in Madelyn’s eyes when she heard this. In her previous life, she had believed her miserable death was a punishment. But even if that death came to claim her in this life, she would make sure to give Elena hell first.
The scandal between Easton and Elena had only just been covered up. When Athena heard Easton bring up Elena’s so–called “love” for Andrew, she flew into a rage. “You useless piece of trash! Get out of my house! Don’t you dare show your face here ever again!”
