Chapter 26 Nobody Can Take Advantage of Layla
Despite Rachel’s embarrassment, she expected Layla not to decline now that Peter had spoken up.
It’s a piece of land that spans around 600000 square feet. The opportunity is too good to be given to Layla!
Layla feigned surprise. “Why wasn’t I informed about it?”

“You have never been involved in these matters, so, naturally, you aren’t aware of it. Your uncle is looking out for your best. interests. We will surely turn a profit out of it with our project, Rachel explained, her eyes gleaming with greed.
Anyone with some sense knew it would become valuable once it was included in the urban landscaping
Layla sighed. “Uncle Peter, why didn’t you mention it earlier? It’s too late now,”
“What do you mean?” Rachel tensed up at those words.
Even Peter seemed surprised. “Layla, don’t tell me you—”
“I sold it three hours ago, she finished his sentence.
“What?” Rachel couldn’t believe her ears.
“Thought the land out of spite. I always felt I made a poor decision as sewers surrounded it. I have been trying to get rid of it, but nobody was interested. Zane approached me and expressed interest in buying the land today. I was thrilled and immediately signed the contract so he wouldn’t change his mind. Now I’ve gotten the money, and he the land,” Layla sighed to make her story sound plausible.
Rachel tugged at Peter’s sleeve. “What should we do now?
It’s a lucrative opportunity!
Is there any way to reclaim it?” Peter pressed.
Layla shook her head. I doubt it.”
Kachel chimed in, “Perhaps you can speak to Zane again? Tell him you changed your mind.”
Layla refrained from rolling her eyes and maintained a serious expression. “I don’t care whether I can benefit from the land. or not. Aunt Rachel, if you’re so eager to reclaim it, you could ask Uncle Peter to negotiate with Zane and see if he’s willing to give it up.”
Rachel pursed her lips, and her confidence wavered.
Peter added. “Zane is ruthless, I won’t fight with him for the land.”
Knowing Peter’s character well, 1ayla bet he wouldn’t mess with someone as ruthless as Zane.
Rachel felt like she was talking to a brick wall, so she gave him a pointed look.
Layla interjected, “Aunt Rachel, there’s no need to worry. A mere piece of land can’t be that valuable. Look at our family business. We have enough resources for generations to come. We don’t need the land.”
“I agree with her on this one. It’s unnecessary. As Peter took a seat, his wife stormed out of the room in fury.
Ļayla calmly took a sip of tea. Trying to take advantage of me? Not a chance.
Shortly after, she left the residence and noticed Zane’s car still parked outside.
She knocked on the car window and inquired, “Why are you still here?”
“Fedrick suggested we celebrate.”
“No, I didn’t. It’s his idea to celebrate. Fedrick revealed.

Logan was attending a banquet in the afternoon. As Leo drove past Athena University, Logan caught sight of the students. bustling near the entrance, and Layla’s face crossed his mind.
“Stop the car,” he requested. His words surprised even himself.
Why did I say that
Leo parked the car on the roadside and inquired, “Mr. Robinson, are we picking Miss Hamilton up?”
Logan remained silent.
Leo pressed. “Should I call Mrs. Robinson?”
Logan lifted his head. The rearview mirror reflected his cold gaze, silencing Leo.
Amy was the first to spot Logan’s car at the university entrance. She nudged Harper and pointed out, “Harper, look. Isn’t that your boyfriend’s car? Is he here to pick you up?
From a distance, Harper recognized the license plate instantly. She couldn’t help but blush at Amy’s words.
Crystal teased, “Oh, he came to pick you up for a date. You forgot about it and promised to have a meal with us. Fine, next time you’re treating us to dinner
“Don’t be silly. I have to go. You girls enjoy the meal. After that, she happily made her way over to his car since Logan hadn’t visited her in a while.
She knocked on the window, and Leo rolled it down. A hint of disappointment flickered across Logan’s face when he saw her.
“Mr. Robinson, what brings you here! Are you here to see me?” Her face lit up with anticipation.
The man curtly replied. “Get in the car.”
She complied, interpreting the frown on his face as a sign of him having a bad day.
Then, he instructed Leo to drive.
“Yes, Mr. Robinson”
He remained silent throughout the journey, a familiar occurrence for her.
He was never one for words, but an unannounced visit was a first.
