Chapter 28 A Parasite
Harper’s pale face drew the guests‘ attention when she returned to the private room.
Trying to regain her composure, she took a seat.
Logan noticed her unease and inquired, “Is something wrong?”
She whispered, “Mr. Robinson, 1-1 just caught a glimpse of Mrs. Robinson,”
“Layla

She nodded, feigning hesitation as she continued, “Besides her, I also spotted the two men from the auction. One of them appeared quite intimate with her.
Zane’s name immediately sprang to Logan’s mind.
A steely glint flashed in his eyes as he rose from his seat and swiftly made his way to the door.
She followed closely behind, leaving the guests perplexed.
“The room is just up ahead.” She led the way
Opening the door, Logan beheld Zane and Fedrick clink their glasses.
His entrance puzzled Fedrick. “Logan?”
Harper felt a twinge of disappointment when she didn’t see Layla in the room. However, the third set of silverware on the table caught her attention. “Mr. Robinson, the tableware is still here.”
His gaze landed on said silverware, his gaze turned frosty. “Where is Layla?”
“Layla?” Fedrick tilted his head in bewilderment. “Are you seriously questioning us about where your wife is?”
“Don’t play dumb. Harper saw Layla in the room. Where is she?”
“Who’s Harper? Fedrick tilted his head and glanced at the woman standing beside Logan. Then, realization dawned on him.
I didn’t spread rumors! I witnessed it firsthand!”
“O? And what did you see? Zane interjected. His imposing presence caused her to struggle for breath-
She instinctively reached for Logan’s arm, drawing confidence from his proximity. “I saw the three of you chit–chating and having drinks in the room. You even served her dishes! The two of you seemed very close, I also saw you holding hands.”
Her words were half true, half lie.
Zane merely sneered
Logan’s tone grew icier “Tll repeat it. Where is Layla?”
“Excuse me. You’re blocking the way” A female spoke up outside the door.
A woman in a burgundy dress entered the room. Her expression appeared to be puzzled by the uninvited guests. “What’s happening here?”
“Y–You-“Harper stared blankly at the newcomer. Even Logan frowned
“Zane, who are they? The woman scowled as she took a seat beside Zane,
Zane replied casually. “The man is Logan Robinson, the CEO of Robinson Group, and she’s an escort.”
“Mr. Robinson, trust me. She isn’t the woman I saw earlier!”

“Hey, watch your mouth! Do you realize who she is?” Fedrick scolded, “This is Miss Jean from the Rivera family. Show some respect. Logan, keep an eye on your escort, especially teach her to watch her mouth.
Harper’s face paled at the introduction.
It was common knowledge that the Rivera family had a sole heiress who had been studying abroad since her childhood and only returned recently. Besides, she held control over the whole family’s shares, owned multiple enterprises, and was also Flynn’s granddaughter.
Flynn practically spoiled her.
“I apologize, Miss Rivera. I didn’t mean to-
“Enough.” Jean furrowed her brow and shifted her gaze to Logan. Your reputation precedes you, Mr. Robinson. Keep your eye on your escort. She’s just a struggling student who latched onto wealthy men to survive. How dare she disrespect me?”
Her insult caused Harper’s cheeks to flush. Before Harper could retort, Logan stopped her. She noticed a shadow had darkened his expression.
His reaction took Harper aback and silenced her.
“It was a misunderstanding on Harper’s part. Allow me to cover the cost of your meal. Please don’t take offense.”
“It’s fine. The Rivera family can pay for their meals.” Jean couldn’t care less about his ego. She icily threatened, “I won’t forget what happened today”
Then, she ordered her bodyguards to escort Logan and Harper out of the room.
If he intended to make a scene, the trio were no match for him. He doubted the three of them could form a competent opponent even if he had to go against all of them at the same time. However, he was in the wrong this time.
His expression darkened as he exited the private room.
“Logan, I didn’t-
He refrained from taking his anger out on her and softly reassured her, “Let’s not dwell on it.”
She bit her lip in remorse. I know what I saw! Layla must’ve done something!
After the pair departed. Layla emerged from the adjacent room. She had changed into Jean’s attire. “Thank you, Miss Jean”
Jean waved her gratitude off. “Don’t mention it. You’re like a family to me.”
Fedrick cleared his throat.
Her remark puzzled Layla, prompting Zane to explain, “I planned to introduce you to each other today, but Logan ruined it. You should head home first. Don’t let him discover you were here.”
“Okay” She shared his opinion. Even though she should’ve left earlier, she wanted to greet Jean properly.
