Chapter 110
The camp was heavy with unease as Aurora, Cassian, and the others returned. Cassian leaned against Aurora for support, his injuries stark despite his insistence on walking unassisted. The wolves gathered around them in silence, their worry palpable as they exchanged uncertain glances.
“Take him to the healers,” Aurora ordered, her voice steady but her eyes betraying her fear.
Cassian gave her hand a reassuring squeeze before the healers led him away. “Don’t lose sight of the goal, Aurora. The pack needs you.”
Aurora turned back to face the waiting crowd. Doubt rippled through the wolves like an unspoken storm, their murmurs growing louder.
“We barely survived that fight.”
“How can we win against the Lycan King himself?”
Aurora stepped forward, her silver hair catching the firelight as she raised her voice. “We survived because we stood together. Yes, we were hurt, but the Lycan King didn’t win. He retreated. That means we have a chance, but only if we don’t falter now.”
Selene’s sharp voice cut through the murmurs. “Aurora’s right. But don’t mistake his retreat for defeat. The Lycan King is preparing for his final move, and it’s aimed directly at the Pact’s heart. If he succeeds, there will be nothing left of our world.”
