Chapter 3
The house was quiet as Aurora walked into the bedroom she had shared with Fenrir, feeling the silence like a heavy weight pressing down on her.
The faint scent of his cologne still lingered in the air, a bittersweet reminder of the man she thought she knew. Her eyes drifted over the room, and there, lying on the bed in plain sight, were the divorce papers.
A shiver ran through her as she stared at them. Each page was crisp and clean, the lines of legal jargon stark and cold.
She felt a pang of sorrow at the sight, but also a strange sense of relief. Here, laid out before her, was the finality of everything—the proof that the life she had built with Fenrir was ending.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she picked up the pen, hovering over the signature line.
For a moment, she hesitated, remembering the dreams and promises that had once bound them together. But she reminded herself that those promises were empty now, overshadowed by the undeniable truth of his actions.
With a deep breath, she signed her name, the ink drying as if sealing away the last fragments of their bond.
As she placed the pen down, a tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away. This was her reality now, and she needed to be strong.
Aurora picked up her phone and called for her assigned driver, her voice steady as she instructed him to take her to her mother’s home. The drive was quiet, her mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead.
Her mother’s house had always been a place of comfort, but returning now felt like retreating in defeat.
She forced herself to look out the window, taking in the familiar surroundings as they blurred by, trying to find solace in the journey back to her roots.
When they finally arrived, Aurora took a moment to compose herself before stepping out of the car. She was met by her mother’s warm smile, which quickly shifted into a look of concern as she took in her daughter’s weary expression.
“Aurora, sweetheart, what’s wrong?” her mother asked, gently taking her hands.
Aurora managed a small smile, grateful for the concern, but the emotions she’d held back began to break free. She took a deep breath, struggling to keep her voice steady. “Mom, Fenrir… he asked me for a divorce.”
