Chapter 2
Aurora stood frozen in the grand foyer, her heart pounding as Fenrir’s words echoed in her mind: “Let’s get divorced.”
The weight of his declaration crashed over her like a tidal wave, leaving her breathless. She touched her flat stomach instinctively, her heart aching with the knowledge of the life growing inside her.
“Fenrir, please,” she implored, stepping forward, desperation clawing at her voice. “Can we just talk about this? I know things are complicated right now, but we can work through it. I can’t lose you!”
He turned his cold gaze toward her, and the distance between them felt like an insurmountable chasm.
“Aurora, there’s nothing left to discuss,” he said flatly, his tone devoid of the warmth it once held. She could feel the chill of his rejection wrapping around her, suffocating her hopes.
“You can’t make this decision so quickly,” she urged, her heart racing with fear.
Fenrir didn’t respond; he simply walked past her, his body language signaling an unwillingness to engage.
Desperate for answers, she hesitated only for a moment before following him quietly, hoping to understand the reason behind the sudden request for a divorce.
She loved him and it was clear as day that he did to, until now.
As she slipped out of the house and into the cool evening air, she noticed Fenrir standing at the edge of the driveway, his broad shoulders tense as he spoke to Arianna.
