Chapter 599
Originally, Sarah never wanted to bring up Theresa, but she was left with no choice.
She knew Charlie had always treated Theresa well and even owed Theresa. In fact, it was only because of Theresa that Charlie had been helping the company lately. Now that Theresa had left, Charlie immediately turned his back, so Sarah had no choice but to bring up Theresa and hope it might work. As expected, when Charlie heard Sarah say that, his expression changed. He looked at Sarah and said, “Since you mentioned your sister, if you want me to help your family business, ask her to beg me herself.”
Sarah was at a loss for words. She was out of other ideas so she deliberately tried to provoke Charlie by bringing up Theresa. However, she never expected Charlie to actually… agree!
“Theresa must be really special to you for you to treat her so well!” Sarah looked at Charlie and said, “Charlie, are you trying to infuriate me to death?”
Charlie opened up the car door and was about to get in when Sarah said, “Have you forgotten you promised grandpa you’d marry me? How can you fall in love with Theresa?”
Jonathan’s lips twitched as he heard what Sarah said. He could not fathom how Sarah actually had the guts to be so shameless and bring this up in front of Mr. Calsis.
He said, “You ran away from the marriage first, why are you making it sound like it was Mr. Calsis’ fault?” “Who said I ran away? I was out learning. Charlie’s legs were injured and could not stand up, so naturally, I wanted to help him cure it! I only traveled so many places because I wanted to find a good and reliable doctor for him.”
Jonathan was speechless. He could not believe how absolutely shameless this woman was, so much so that he almost admired her for it! What a ridiculous excuse. Was Sarah saying that she only ran away from the message for the sake of Mr. Calsis?
Charlie looked at Sarah and said, “After you returned, you were afraid I’d not let you go no matter what, so you said you’d rather die than marry me. Those are your exact words, have you completely forgotten?”
