Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1294

Emma was momentarily frozen, her gaze inexplicably drawn to the floor-to-ceiling window.

There, a strikingly handsome man sat, as captivating as Dustin had been when she first met him. He seemed oblivious to the office's hustle and bustle, his eyes occasionally drifting towards Brielle.

But Brielle hadn’t noticed; she was focused on the documents in front of her. When she finally looked up at Emma, Emma stiffened, like a deer caught in headlights.

Sensing Emma’s discomfort, Brielle softened her tone. “I’ve heard about the situation with Leona. Next time you go live, the company will put out an official statement explaining the bracelet issue and the donations. I heard you’ve been getting a lot of flak in your live streams?”

Emma nodded, “Yeah, everyone’s asking if the cops have been in touch, but honestly, they haven’t.”

Brielle pondered this for a moment before explaining, “Don’t worry about it. Any donations over a thousand dollars get immediately verified by the company. The account that donated to you was registered with an overseas address, so we can't track down more specific info. But as long as they're willing to donate, that money is rightfully yours.”

Emma’s face lit up with gratitude, surprised by Brielle’s approachability. “Thank you, Mr. Haywood. I appreciate it.”

Brielle flipped back to a previous page, reviewing Emma’s performance metrics. “I see you’re currently ranked twenty-third. If you keep up this trend, breaking into the top three isn't out of the question. You’re quite photogenic, perfect for a leading broadcaster. But as much as I admire you, I can’t just hand you success; it has to be earned. However, I’m curious about your relationship with your mother. She dresses simply, yet she’s spent quite a bit on you.”

Peyton, who had been silent until now, stepped forward. “It’s not like that, Mr. Haywood. My daughter, she’s been nothing but good.”

Peyton shared bits about Emma’s schooling and her own health struggles over the years, ultimately relying on her daughter’s care, before sighing deeply. “I don’t know why people say she’s leeching off me. If anything, I’ve been a burden on her. But she’s all I have. If I were gone, who would look after her?”

Brielle hadn’t expected their journey to be so filled with hardships. Still, the principle remained: success must be earned.
