Ricardo sat next to her, humming softly. "What else could it be? Probably scared stiff at the thought of us leaving him behind."
Brielle's eyes shifted downward before she stood up. "Ricardo, we can't hang around here any longer. We've gotta find an exit, and fast. Let's go."
Ricardo nodded, following closely behind her.
This time, Brielle stopped at one of the doors and glanced at Ricardo. "We've passed so many doors, and I have no idea which one to open. If we keep wandering like this, I might just die here before King shows up. We need to take a chance."
Each door was locked, but the keys were conveniently placed right next to them. Brielle picked up a key and slowly unlocked the door.
It was a steel door—Fisher clearly used the best materials for his escape routes. As soon as the door creaked open, the roar of a starving beast echoed from inside.
Before Ricardo could react, Brielle shoved him in and locked the door behind him.
Trapped inside, Ricardo faced Brielle through the door. "Ms. Brielle, what’s the meaning of this?"
Brielle locked the door, slipped the key into her pocket, and her face turned pale. "Ms. Brielle, did you push me in here because you’re afraid of the beast? That’s pretty cold-hearted."
Brielle's heart pounded as she stared coldly at the door. "I asked you if you wanted to know why the fake Fisher was laughing."
