Levi just smiled and shook his head at Matthew "Save the formality. We're just here to freeload." he spread his empty hands.
The more casual he was, the better his relationship with Matthew. Martin had been observing Levi's behavior from the beginning of the journey until now
Levi had undergone a tremendous change. It was so drastic that Martin had trouble adapting to it. How should he put it?
Previously, Levi was like a fierce crocodile lurking in the swamp; he hid himself, ready to deliver a fatal blow to his prey at any moment.
Yet, now, he was more like a gentle water buffalo; harmless to humans and animals. He was approachable.
Even the serious and stern Levi had become mischievous.
Of course, they had known each other for many years, but Martin had never been able to fully understand him. Since he couldn't figure it out, he decided not to dwell on it.
"Matthew, don't listen to this old man. He came empty-handed, but I have prepared a gift for you," Martin said. He then took out a pearl the size of a baby's fist, almost perfect in appearance. The white surface shimmered with a purple light, catching the attention of all the women present.
Just as Matthew was about to refuse, a figure suddenly rushed into the hall. Before Levi and Martin reacted, the person had already arrived next to them.
Then, with a leap, the figure landed on Matthew's back with her hands covering his eyes.
"Matthew, guess who I am?" It sounded so familiar that it lit his face with joy.
"Ella, why are you here in Bainbridge?" he asked, immediately embracing her.
Looking at her chubby arms and rosy cheeks, he could tell that Ella had been living well in Orleans.
