"Due to His Highness' recognition of my burning passion towards Montiria's profound history, I've been granted access to The Royal Archive.
When I was delving into Montiria's fifty years of history and culture, I stumbled upon an unusual occurrence. I would appreciate it if you could provide some insights on this matter, Lord Zedran."
At that moment, Zedran's head was preoccupied with thoughts of leaving. Therefore, he consented to Rocco's request without hesitation. "Carry on!"
Rocco nodded and continued talking, "Around twenty years ago, all visits to the Royal Sorceress Hospital were meticulously documented. However, not a single visit has been recorded lately."
Upon hearing this unsettling revelation, Zedran felt his heart skip a beat. However, he maintained a facade of composure as he replied, "Perhaps it was merely an omission in the records."
"I once held the same notion!" Rocco concurred. He then took out a piece of weathered paper.
"Yet, a coincidence piqued my interest on that very day. There were records of item pickups at the Royal Sorceress Hospital, but no mention of the medications that were collected. Therefore, I was driven by curiosity. I revisited their end-of-month inventory records and stumbled upon something rather intriguing."
As Rocco spoke, he traced his finger to the end of the weathered paper.
"With the shortage of a large quantity of medications, why does the Royal Sorceress Hospital exhibit such nonchalance? It also seems that all the unrecorded medications are intended for women in labor!"
Up until this point, Zedran was clenching his right hand on the chair. Veins stood out on his hand, throbbing visibly with each beat of his heart.
His face turned exceedingly grim and gloomy.
"Young man, do you realize that curiosity kills the cat? It may not be good for you to know too much!"
His solemn demeanor conveyed a sense of warning.
Who would've thought that someone would be willing to flip through endless pages of records and meticulously gather every trifling detail?
What a bunch of incompetent fools. None of them were capable of doing things without leaving any traces!
Rocco shrugged as he spread out both his arms. He radiated confidence in the face of Zedran's wrath, signaling with chilling certainty that their fate was sealed.
"Indeed, Lord Zedran. Should this information reach His Majesty's ears, my head shall roll." Rocco paused in his speech and leaned in. "But do you dare to do so?"
Zedran sneered. "Hmph, I have fought wars for decades. Whom else do I fear? His Majesty's decree is unnecessary. I shall end you before midnight."
When Rocco had yet finished his words, his throat was already in Zedran's hand. Zedran throttled his throat firmly with his fingers closing in like a wild beast's grip.
Just when Zedran was about to cut off his breath, Rocco let out a sinister grin.
"Once I fail to report my whereabouts within an hour, your beloved son's identity will be exposed. The whole of Montiria would know about his true lineage. Do you truly believe that Princes Toby, Prince Garrett, and Prince Gadel would grant the existence of your dear son under such circumstances?
If you ask me, I have no qualms about being decapitated. To have one of the princes accompany me to the deathbed… I would consider my life well spent! Hahaha!"
