His voice was husky and magnetic, and as he spoke, his fingertips lightly traced up her spine. Even through her clothes, she could feel the heat of his palm, like it was trying to set her ablaze.
Selena was so sensitive to his touch that her voice quivered. “I...I haven’t made up my mind yet.” Everything was happening so fast.
For three years, she had waited, and he showed no interest. Just when she'd lost hope and was about to move on, he suddenly wanted to make things work. She was confused and needed time to think it over.
Clearly, this wasn’t what Everett wanted to hear. His dark eyes fixed on her, saying nothing but conveying so much.
When Everett looked at someone like that, his gaze was natural and intense, making people feel exposed. Even though Selena wasn't as intimidated by him as she used to be, she still felt uneasy, especially being this close. She was close enough to sense the changes in his body. It was too risky...
Selena swallowed hard and said, “I’ll think about it and let you know when I decide. For now...let’s just head home.”
He chuckled softly, his nose brushing against hers. “Are you trying to fool me?”
Selena thought, ‘Ugh, sometimes I hate how well he knows me!’
“Selena, if you need time, I can give you that. But in return…”
Everett’s gravelly voice hung in the air, building suspense until he finally continued, “I want you! Right here, right now!”
Selena couldn’t break free. She’s worried someone might come by, and whispered, “Everett, can we please just go home…”
But men like Everett enjoyed the thrill. Once he started, he didn’t hold back. The threat of divorce really seemed to have unleashed the beast inside him.
He ignored her plea, his lips trailing down to her ear, nibbling. With a raspy voice, he whispered, “Mrs. Bennett, do you have any idea how irresistible you look right now?”
She was nervous, and her skin turned a soft pink. Her body trembled slightly—a stark contrast to her usual calm at home. Seeing her like this was a rare treat for him. He wasn’t about to let her slip away. Not a chance.
