Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 255

Everett stayed quiet, his eyes growing deep and brooding, lost in thought. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, tapped one out, lit it, and took a long drag. Leaning his head back, he slowly blew out the smoke.

The haze blurred his striking features, making it hard to read his true emotions. Just as Jaime was about to give up on getting an answer, Everett’s low voice broke the silence with a single, casual “Yeah.”

After leaving the hospital, Rebecca’s anger kept building until she couldn’t stand it anymore. She called up a group of friends to join her for drinks and a night out.

As expected, the Bennett family’s little princess had no trouble rallying the troops. Her friends, eager to keep her happy, even hired the trendiest fitness models to dance for her.

Normally, Rebecca would have been thrilled by all the attention, but tonight she just wasn’t feeling it. In fact, she was downright irritated. Suddenly, she smashed her glass on the floor. "Get out, all of you!"

Her friends were taken aback, sharing uneasy looks. Amanda, Rebecca’s best friend and confidante, stepped in to calm things down. "Alright, folks, let’s call it a night."

Amanda didn’t come from a fancy background, but she sure knew how to win people over, which made her a favorite of Rebecca’s, even more than her high-society friends. Her word was practically gospel to Rebecca, so everyone took the hint and left.

The room fell silent. Amanda sat down next to Rebecca, poured her a fresh drink, and handed it over. “Who dares to upset Miss Bennett?”

“There’s a photo.” Amanda pulled out her phone, found the picture, and showed it to Rebecca.

Even with the woman’s head down and a mask on, Rebecca recognized her immediately as Selena. “Damn her, Grandfather’s already inclined to give her everything. If he finds out she’s pregnant, he’ll probably leave it all to her. What about our side of the family?”

Rebecca’s anger twisted her pretty face into a mask of rage. She ground out, “Selena won’t win. I’ll make sure she doesn’t get her hands on the Bennett family’s fortune!”

Amanda stuck around for a few more hours, drinking with Rebecca and stoking the flames until Rebecca was out cold. With a sly smile, Amanda picked up her phone and made a call. Once it connected, she said bluntly, “I’ve done what you asked. Make sure the money’s in my account.”
