Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 366

As soon as Selena spoke, she noticed Everett tense up, a sarcastic smirk tugging at her lips.

After a brief silence, Everett’s low voice broke through, trying to dodge the real issue. “She won’t be bothering us anymore.”

With that offhand remark, he thought he could brush aside the past wounds.

Selena’s emotions flared up anyway. She turned to face him, tilting her head back to meet his eyes. “Everett, if you can’t fix this, stop pretending to care with crocodile tears!”

“Mateo having you as a dad would be a disaster. Honestly, I’m relieved he never came into this world!”

She felt a deep sorrow and anger for her unborn child. Margot lost her child and he lost his temper, going as far as choking her in public. But what about her child?

Unloved and deemed insignificant, was that how it was?

Did her child deserve such neglect?

Unable to restrain herself, she slapped him again, grabbing his shirt, and spat out each word, “And you, thinking about having another kid, Everett, do you really deserve that? Kids are living beings, not your tools!”

“You can’t love anyone, let alone a child. If you’ve got any conscience left, you’d let us part ways and find our peace.”

Everett’s handsome face twisted with disgust, his lips pressed into a tight line. He looked at Selena, her eyes full of loathing and bitterness, and felt his heart split in two.

For a moment, he wondered if they’d really reached the end, if he should just… let go.

Selena’s words were met with silence. She looked at the man she once loved dearly. He was still as dashing and aloof as ever, while she had been worn down by the marriage... The once vibrant flower had long withered, shrouded in darkness.

Loving someone is like tending to a flower; she hadn’t felt an ounce of love, deprived of its nourishment—how could she thrive?

On the way back, an unusual silence hung in the air.

Selena, wrapped in a blanket, stared out the window, showing him only the back of her head, as if she was too heartbroken to speak.

The biggest crisis in a marriage is when you no longer want to fight.

Everett glanced at her, seeing her like this, his expression turned icy. Despite the worsening rain and poor visibility, he slammed the gas pedal, racing down the road, venting his fury.

The speed made Selena uneasy, her face turning a bit pale, but she bit her lip and stayed silent, refusing to give in.

If that contemptible man dared, he’d dump her on the highway. She’d rather be left on the freeway than trapped in that mansion again.
