Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 403

"Oh, so Margot lost her child, she was shattered, dealing with postpartum depression, and on the brink of giving up. She needed you desperately, so you were there for her. But what about me? When I needed you, you weren't there for me either!"

"Everett, it's not like I didn't give you a chance. I did, but you took it for granted, didn't you? In your heart, Margot means more to you than Mateo and I do! And now, you think your attempts at making it up to me should just be accepted without question?"

As Selena spoke, her voice began to tremble with emotion.

She recalled those last few months, filled with pain and heartache, living each day gripped by fear. She worried she might lose the baby, scared that childbirth might claim both her and the child. It was an agony she had to bottle up inside, with no one to share it with.

"So... didn't I promise I'd be there for you from now on?"

Everett's voice rose slightly, his heart felt heavy, her words cutting through him like a chill wind.

"I admit my mistakes, I won't deny them. I'm new to this whole fatherhood thing too... I just didn't know."

Even when he lost the child, the reality hadn't hit him until he saw that wooden horse. Completing it was when the weight of it all truly sank in.

He had already lost his first child and couldn't bear to lose Selena too. They were supposed to be a happy family of three.

Everett's fingers trembled slightly as he gently touched Selena's cheek, wiping away her tears.

"Selena, once we have another child, everything will be alright..."

He was stubbornly convinced of that.

With a second child, he believed they could heal and move forward together.

Selena didn't want to keep talking about children; it seemed futile.

Everett and Selena spent the night at the old house, and the next morning, he woke her up at the crack of dawn.

Selena blinked sleepily, her head still fuzzy, feeling a wave of dizziness.

She tried to sit up, but the dizziness nearly pulled her back down.

Everett, in the middle of getting dressed, noticed her pale face and quickly sat beside her on the bed, "What's wrong?"

"I..."

Selena started to speak, but a sudden wave of nausea hit her, and she had to fight to keep it down.
