Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 450

Selena came to a sudden stop.

The man hadn’t noticed her; he was too wrapped up in his phone conversation with Margot.

“You’re at the hospital? What’s wrong?”

Whatever Margot said on the other end made his brow furrow even more. “Don’t move, I’m coming to see you right now,” he replied urgently.

After hanging up, he crushed his cigarette butt with the tip of his shoe and turned around, only to find Selena standing just a few steps behind him.

She was watching him, her dark eyes giving nothing away.

Still, he guessed she must have overheard his conversation.

Everett, for some reason, found himself waiting—waiting for her to come over and, like before, question him with jealousy. But she didn’t.

A sudden flare of anger shot through him, and his lips curled into a cold smile.

He almost forgot—she had moved on. Her heart now belonged to Dr. Campbell!

He looked away, refusing to give her even a single word, and turned to Bill, who was standing nearby. “Take her home. If she makes a run for it again, it's on you!”

Bill nodded, “Yes, sir.”

With that, Everett took off, his long strides echoing his resolve.

Bill approached Selena, his usually stoic face showing a hint of unease. “Ma'am, let me take you home.”

Despite the endless hassle Selena had endured, Bill respected her. The other high-society ladies were all spoiled and arrogant, looking down on everyone.

Take Ms. Margot, for instance—no official status, yet bossing them around like they were less than human.

Only then could she find the freedom she craved.

Back at Moon Bay, as soon as Selena walked in, Ava rushed over to hug her. “Oh, my poor lady...”

Ava didn’t blame Selena for knocking her out. She knew Selena meant well.

These past few days, she'd been on edge, fearing Selena hadn’t escaped and would be caught again, worried about what Everett might do in his anger.

She’d been pestering the bodyguards daily, asking if they’d found her, driving them to the brink.

When the call came saying Selena was coming back, Ava couldn’t help but feel heartbroken for her.

Selena’s gamble hadn’t paid off—a bold move, but the odds hadn’t been in her favor.
