Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 546

Alex's jaw practically hit the floor. What on earth had she just heard? She thought the big boss had finally gotten a clue, realizing that a little bit of charm was harmless and, honestly, quite appealing. But why was he spiraling out of control again?

She took a deep breath, hoping she had just misheard. “Mr. Everett, are you sure about this?” What she really wanted to say was, “Are you sure this won’t just push her even further away?” But having just bought her parents a house back in her hometown, she couldn't afford to speak her mind.

“Alex,” Everett said, his tone cool and composed, “Have you been having trouble with your hearing lately?”

Alex's heart skipped a beat, and she shook her head quickly. “Mr. Everett, I understand. I’ll get right on it!” She couldn't risk becoming the next person to fall out of favor.

Meanwhile, Selena handed her luggage over to Kate, meticulously going over every single detail about the child’s care. Kate listened closely, letting out a sigh. “Ma'am, the little one is so young and really needs his mom around. Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider things with your husband?”

Kate had a traditional way of thinking. Even though the couple had been apart for three years, the sudden appearance of their three-year-old child suggested that fate might have had other plans. Once there's a child involved, it’s not just about personal issues anymore; it’s about the kid’s well-being.

Selena shook her head gently. “How can he be even more unreasonable than three years ago?” Ava fumed, clenching her teeth. “Doesn’t he get that a child so young can’t be away from his mother?”

No, Everett understood all too well. It wasn’t a lack of understanding; it was the opposite. He knew a child couldn’t be away from his mother, and a mother couldn’t bear to leave her child. So he used this knowledge to make her “willingly” return to him. He didn’t care if his tactics were low; all he cared about was getting what he wanted.
