Selena didn't hesitate for a second before hanging up the call. Without solid proof, confronting Everett about this would be futile. If he believed her, that’d be great, but if he didn’t—or worse, if he defended his little sweetheart Yasmine—the whole thing would just be swept under the rug.
Even though Everett seemed to care about her and their son these days, his history of cheating meant his trustworthiness was absolutely zero in her eyes. She needed to find the truth on her own!
She clutched her phone tighter, determination sparking in her eyes. After a while, she calmed down, lay back on the bed, and closed her eyes, holding her son close.
The first light of dawn crept in. Everett woke up in the driver’s seat, stretching his stiff neck. He stepped out, stretched his arms and legs, and picked the most delicate rose from the garden. Gently placing it at the main house's doorstep, he got back in the car and drove off.
Back at the hotel, he took a quick shower and changed. Alex was already there, hands folded respectfully, giving a rundown of the tasks from the day before.
"I've assigned another driver to Moon Bay. With two drivers, Mrs. Everett will always have someone available when she needs it."
"I've also beefed up security, keeping a close eye on Mrs. Everett and the young master. Any issues will be reported immediately."
Everett nodded slightly while tying his tie in front of the full-length mirror, adding, "Keep it discreet. If Mrs. Everett finds out, she'll be upset."
Alex stepped forward, offering to help with the tie, but Everett waved her off. She stepped back with a smile, "Mr. Everett, don't worry. I've got it covered."
Everett put on his watch and straightened his suit. Despite a sleepless night, he still looked as handsome as ever. He strode out of the room.
He took the elevator to the hotel rooftop, where a helicopter was ready and waiting. He and his companion climbed aboard.
The helicopter blades spun into motion, lifting them into the sky, heading towards France—
Blaine’s eyes twinkled with mischief as he smiled, exuding a charming yet dangerous allure. “In this world, identities are what you make of them. Would you believe me if I told you?”
“…”
Enough of that.
Selena decided to get straight to the point. At least for now, she hadn’t sensed any bad intentions from him. Clearing her throat, she dove into the main topic.
Blaine tapped his fingers lightly on the table, “So, you think the fire might not have been an accident, but deliberate?”
Selena replied, “Whether it was an accident or intentional depends on the answers you can give me.”
