Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 653

Derick had been reassigned to a branch office after lending her a helping hand. At Bennett Corporation, talent was everywhere, so even with Derick's skills, climbing the ranks wasn't a sure thing. Unless, of course, Everett was trying to win her over by promoting him. Selena had always carried a bit of guilt regarding Derick, so seeing him get this new opportunity eased her mind a bit. She flashed a small smile, "Alex, why don't you come in for a cup of coffee?"

Alex was a bit taken aback. Though they were on decent terms, Selena had always seemed a bit cold due to Mr. Everett. But now, it seemed... her bitterness towards him had softened quite a bit. Alex didn't hesitate, "I'd love to."

By 8 PM, Everett’s car rolled up to Silver Lake Drive. As soon as he stepped out, little Mateo dashed over, clinging to Everett’s leg with a gleeful shout, "Daddy, you're staying with us again!" Everett hoisted his son up, a warm smile tugging at his lips. "Yes, I'm back with you and Mommy."

Mateo leaned in close, whispering, "Do you think you'll get married again?" Because, in his mind, marriage was the glue that kept families together. Everett tousled his son's hair, "I'll do my best, buddy." Mateo nodded eagerly.

Selena had brought in a yoga instructor to guide her through prenatal exercises, making sure she'd have the strength for an easier delivery. In the evenings, after tucking their son in, Everett would join her, massaging her arms and legs to help her unwind. The yoga instructor, watching from the sidelines, teased, "Mr. Bennett, you're such a devoted husband."

She often worked with well-off women, but seeing a husband who patiently attended sessions and pampered his wife was rare. It was quite a sight. Everett was all tender smiles, while Selena just grinned quietly.

Selena wasn't about to let Everett move back into the master bedroom, so he begrudgingly set up camp in the guest room next door. His reasoning? So he could be close by if anything happened. As Selena stepped into the guest room, she heard the shower running—Everett was getting cleaned up. Her eyes landed on his phone sitting on the coffee table, buzzing with an incoming call. The caller ID? Yasmine.

It looked like her trap had finally caught its prey. Without missing a beat, Selena picked up the phone. "Hello."
