Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 712

Joy lifted her eyes and immediately locked onto Everett's gaze. His eyes were deep and magnetic, like a swirling vortex that could pull you in if you stared too long. He strolled over in a black shirt and trousers, his long strides accentuating his broad shoulders and narrow waist. Even through his clothes, you could sense the powerful aura of masculinity he radiated.

She mused to herself that a man like Everett could always draw a woman's attention. When he was married, it was no different, and now that he was single, the effect was even more pronounced. Finally, she and Selena were on equal footing.

There was a newfound warmth in her gaze, an affection she had hidden for far too long, now burning brightly. She stood, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, and said, "Everett, it's so good to see you back."

Everett held her gaze for a few seconds before giving a slight nod.

Caroline turned her attention to Mateo, who was by Everett's side. It was her first time meeting her grandson, and she gave him a thorough once-over. She hadn't been interested before because of her dislike for Selena, and by extension, her child. Yet, seeing Mateo's striking resemblance to Everett, she couldn't help but feel a hint of affection.

Maybe it was her age, or perhaps the pull of blood ties. Though Mateo's mother wasn't to her liking, as long as Everett remarried to someone she approved of, raising Mateo under the wing of a new Mrs. Bennett would resolve any issues.

If Mateo insisted on staying close to his biological mother, then they wouldn't need to invest too much in him. A new wife could have more children, and as long as there was a son, the line would continue.

Despite this being their first meeting, Mateo had been well-mannered from a young age and greeted his grandmother with poise. Caroline responded with a warm smile.

She handed Mateo a pendant as a welcome gift, placing it around his neck. This pendant, from her dowry and once a royal gift, was incredibly precious, symbolizing her acceptance and favor.

Caroline took another sip of her tea. She was well aware of Everett's movements. He had gone to Northtown and stayed the night, which wasn't necessary if he was only picking up his son.

She worried that Selena might have used some tactic to keep him there, or perhaps seeing Selena again had stirred something within Everett.

Cautiously, she asked, "Everett, was it really that easy to bring Mateo back this time? Did Selena just let it happen? Or is there a chance... that you two might reconnect and think about getting back together?"

Using the child as a reason for contact seemed all too convenient. Everett lifted his gaze to her, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag before exhaling slowly.
