Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 726

"Think you can boss me around?"

"Selena, I'm warning you, if you dare..."

Before the voice on the other end could finish, Selena hung up and switched off her phone. Finally, some peace and quiet.

Meanwhile, Everett tried calling back, only to be met with the cold, automated message: "The number you have dialed is currently switched off..."

He chuckled bitterly, grinding his teeth in frustration. He wasn't the type to chase after anyone. If Selena wanted distance, fine by him. No point in dealing with her aloofness.

Not that he ever lacked female attention. Still, despite his resolve, Everett couldn't shake the images of last night from his mind. Selena beneath him, her dark hair cascading across the bed, her body soft and inviting, her expressions a tantalizing mix of reluctance and desire.

He found himself distracted throughout work meetings today—a first for him. The thought of Selena out drinking with Rhett right now, a few drinks in, alone... the idea made Everett clench his eyes shut, his breathing heavy.

He couldn't stomach the thought of Selena in another man's arms. Just imagining it made his blood boil. Pacing back and forth, hands on his hips, he finally gave in and grabbed his phone to call Alex.

"Find out where Selena is, right now!"

...

At that moment, Selena was indeed at a bar, nursing a drink. Her friendship with Joy had ended so painfully, it was impossible not to feel heartbroken.

Just as she was about to fall, an arm slipped around her waist, catching her securely. Selena blinked her blurry eyes, looking up at the man's sharply defined jawline.

"Selena, are you alright?" the man asked gently.

Regaining her senses, Selena steadied herself with Rhett's help. "I'm fine, thank you."

After a beat, she asked, "What are you doing here?"

Rhett wasn't in his usual suit today. He sported casual streetwear, which gave him a youthful, energetic vibe. Paired with his naturally striking looks, he was hard to miss.
